Homemade Air Dry Clay From 3 Ingredients (edible If It Comes To It)
Today I’m sharing a wonderful collection of air dried clay crafts. Air dry clay is very interesting and easy to use. It can be bought inexpensively and is suitable for both adults and children.
I’ve been making simple air-dried clay projects for years (these stamped air-dried clay bowls are still my favorite), so you can probably guess how much I love them. It is an ideal material for making beautiful home decor items such as trinkets or photo coasters. In fact, if you need more air-drying clay bowls, check out this post (there are 25 of them!).
Its advantage is that it does not require baking, roasting or roasting (there are no high temperatures here). All you have to do is leave the finished project to air cure and in 48 hours you will have a stunning piece that can be decorated with acrylic paint and varnish.
Air dried clay is a great alternative to traditional clay. It is lightweight, easy to use, and can be rolled, stamped, twisted, and shaped into any shape.

Olympic Medal Craft Air Dry Clay
As much as I love air dry clay, it does have a few disadvantages. The main problem is that it is not waterproof or food safe, so anything made from air-dried clay should only be used for decorative purposes. If you’re interested, I wrote a post on how to glaze or varnish air-hardening clay.
Another problem is that not all types of clay work as well as others. Depending on the type of clay you use, some may be brittle and crumbly. Below I have listed some of the dry clays that I have tried and tested.
There are different types of clay available. All of the projects below use Crayola air dry clay or my favorite DAS air dry clay.
Personally, I prefer white clay, but most of the projects below use terracotta for a more natural clay color.

Here are a few alternatives that I don’t personally use, but are popular and have good reviews.
You can use stamps or objects around the house to add texture, shapes, or words to the wet clay. Grab a cookie cutter from your kitchen cabinet and create cool geometric shapes, or choose an organic, handmade look and make it your own.
To finish the job, add some essential oils like the terracotta oil diffuser below, or grab some acrylic craft paint and add your own unique design. If you’re feeling brave and don’t mind the mess, you can try using spray paint.
