We suggest you don’t limit these to the classroom door until you move in – if curious little hands can undo all the hard work you and your classroom put into building these door screens, why not make an indoor holiday bulletin board for your classroom?
It’s time to buy wood! Elementary Librarian Mrs. Missouri Shores did a wonderful job of combining two classroom doors into a festive hallway scene. One door is beautifully transformed into a deer gate while a red car fills the wall and the other door.
Aside from colored paper, all you need to make these holiday door decorations are some colored candles and some handprints from your students.
Is winter the season your students look forward to in the classroom? We were there! “This room is only quiet at night” is sure to get a few laughs from some of your colleagues if you choose this classroom door theme. Decorations are pretty open with this title. Think Christmas lights outside a snowy cabin or the starry sky shining above a decorated tree.

Santa is coming, to your room! Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Bee puts the children’s faces on little elf bodies to look like Santa’s helpers. You can easily create this look using our Elfie Selfie Elf Photo Templates.
To make Santa Claus in the corner, you need some red and white paper and white cotton balls. The blue paper background really makes the little elves pop!
Speaking of elves, give Santa’s workshop a digital makeover like third grade teacher Molly did in her classroom entrance! This works great if your room door has a window. If not, see if you have a colleague with a window who would enjoy this activity for both of your rooms!
Have each student stick their neck out of the window to recreate this door. The elf paper in front of the window makes it look like each student has an elf body.
The Christmas Door Decorating…
Like elves but not selfies? Combine writing skills with classroom holiday decorations this school year. Santa’s elves will love helping him collect the letter from this room door decoration. Parents or guardians attending the school holiday play will get a sneak peek at what their kids are asking for (and not sharing!) with the Big Guy this year.
Another elf theme could be decorating your door with the words “Santa’s Workshop” or “Santa’s Workshop: Busy Elves Inside”. Just as Santa’s children are busy making toys, your students are busy completing all their crafts, projects and homework before winter break. Cotton balls, candy canes, teddy bears and other toys are great decorations for a workshop theme.
