It’s been almost a year since we moved into our new home, and in that time our master bedroom has needed some finishing touches. We started with just a bed in our room. The bed was the only thing for months! Then we took the plant, then the mirror. Six months later I settled into one night stands (what a game changer!)

Bedroom Design Ideas Notes

You’re probably wondering why I’m waiting so long to put something as simple as a nightstand in our bedroom. I promised myself that I would not be one of those people who move into a new house and go out and find things to put in my house. So people end up with things they don’t like.

5 Outdated Bedroom Design Trends For 2024

After reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Sparks of Joy, I decided that I didn’t want to bring things into my home that didn’t make me happy. It was very important to me. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized more and more that I’d rather be surrounded by less (less) quality goods than fill space. We don’t have time for things that don’t spark happiness in our lives!

Since I spend a lot of time waffling on nightstands, plant mats, and bed sheets, I thought I’d put all my notes together here. So you can get a look similar to our minimalist bedroom decor without going too far.

Plants are a wonderful thing to have in your home, especially in your bedroom. I have been keeping our palms alive for nine months. To celebrate, I bought her a beautiful gold plant stand, a stand for both myself and my palm (I can tell because it hasn’t died on me yet!) This stand was the start of my selection. Other master bedroom decorations with gold accents.

As I mentioned earlier, we went without a bed for several months. That means phones, glasses, bottles, napkins, diapers – all on the floor. I was very lucky when I finally got a crib. It is impossible to live without a table next to your bed!

How To Design A Bedroom

I don’t like blankets. They do not bring me joy! I was determined to find the perfect bedspread. Our new washing machine can handle bigger and bigger bets. I fell in love with Anthropologie bedding as soon as I saw it. Our comforter set is the warmest pillow we have. It has a moderate weight and is very easy to maintain and clean. This platform is not maintained!

Of course, there were no table lamps because we had not slept at night for six months. Now, let’s do it! I found these beauties at Target. We absolutely love how these lamps look in our room.

Since our vase and nightstands have gold accents, it was only natural that I went with a brass mirror. There are so many beautiful and simple mirrors out there, but it still took me a while to find The One. I waited until this West Elm mirror went on sale and bought it!

The Best French Country Bedroom Decor For A Romantic Look

Previous Previous Amazing freestanding shower curtains for your bathroom Next Next How to choose a stain for hardwood floors When Dominique Gebro decided to design his dream bedroom in his new apartment in Washington, DC, one thing came to mind: relaxation. “While I usually save the bedroom for last, this was the first place we designed in our new home because the world is so messy,” says the creator of Dommdotcom. “I wanted to make a small shelter as soon as possible.”

Unfortunately, the 1930s building had lost almost all of its character in a recent renovation, so Gabbro was tasked with injecting warmth and character into the dimly lit space. “Everything was cool gray—the floors, the built-ins, the appliances,” she says. “It came together terrifically, and I decided to make the space comfortable and inviting.”

With a gallon of our warmest white paint, some vintage jewelry, and layers of textured substrate, Gebro was able to breathe new life into a builders classroom in just six weeks. The resulting room proves that all-white bedrooms can still be comfortable and livable, especially with the right color. Completely white walls certainly bring to mind a cool Scandinavian interior, but the right warm tones make the space minimal but attractive. “I love that Whipped is still minimal, but it doesn’t feel sterile,” Gebro says of her color choices. “I think that’s why I’m always drawn to it.”

Before the renovation, the floor-to-ceiling gray built-ins were definitely the focal point. But Gebro wanted to take the spotlight off the warehouse and let the bed steal the show. “I decided to also use Whipped in a built-in unit so it would blend in with the wall,” he explains. “Instead, I put the bed as a focal point and the terracotta headboard served as an anchor.”

While Gebro’s space is filled with modern pieces such as modern wardrobes and mid-century furniture, he deliberately mixed in a few traditional pieces to create visual interest. The small print on the bed and the table on the left are a fresh departure from the minimal space. “I never want my house to be too sweet like something I see on Pinterest,” she explains. “I try to combine vintage and classic pieces to give it a personality.”

Of course, when heating a completely white space, the texture is out of the question. Gabro came with a fluffy wool rug, lots of honeycomb blankets from Parachute, a warm linen pad and lots of plants. It is important to make sure that the white color breaks up with different structures. Then it gives space.”

“Details really make all the difference,” Gabbro wrote in her bedroom post, and we couldn’t agree more. Small touches like beige wall sconces (from Etsy), mismatched nightstands, low-slung chairs, and an off-center print above the bed make this room stand out. “They say you have to use a large piece of art above a bed or sofa, but I loved how whimsical and unexpected it was to hang a small print there,” she says.

Choose the most soothing color for you. A neutral base palette, such as ivory or sand, will open up the space and make it feel clean, light and bright. It also gives you maximum flexibility with your space. If neutral colors aren’t your thing, consider muted colors like sage green or egg blue. Choose fabric wallpaper to add texture and warmth to the space to give your bedroom a luxurious and modern look. In our projects we choose from a wide range of wallpaper brands including Philip Jeffries and Textura.

Place the bed against the wall, leaving space on either side, and choose a piped or slatted headboard to add extra detail.
