One of my favorite ways to add some color to my walls is to create my own hand painted canvases. All you need is a blank canvas, acrylic paint and a little creativity. You can create abstract designs or geometric shapes, not only is it a fun and inexpensive way to create unique artwork, but it’s also a great stress reliever!
Create your own abstract painting using acrylic paint and canvas. You don’t need to be an experienced artist to create a beautiful piece of abstract art. Just choose a few colors that complement each other, apply them to the canvas using a brush or sponge and let your creativity flow. You can experiment with different brush strokes and techniques to create a unique piece of art that reflects your personality.
Wall Decor Ideas For Home Office
Looking for an idea of the most available paint colors? Here is another abstract I painted on a blank 24 x 36 canvas.
I chose 4 paint colors: dark gray, gray-blue, pink and white. Follow the same formula when creating your abstract artwork: for contrast between at least 2 colors with dark and light.
Start from the bottom with the darkest color and stick to the canvas. I made a wave motion across the canvas with my brush to spread the paint.
After I painted the 2 colors on the canvas I blended them where the two colors met to soften the look so there were no distinct lines.
Wall And Wall
To give the abstract art some dimension, I dabbed some white paint where the dark colors met at the bottom of the canvas, then painted some dark gray on the top of the canvas with pink and white clouds.
There is no right or wrong way to do this, after all, it is abstract! The last step I did was turn the tips of my broad brush to white, paint most of it on a paper towel, and then make X motions with my hand to create light dots on it the entire canvas.
If you’re creating a large piece of wall art like this, sometimes it helps to hang it and stand back to look at it. That’s what I did and found I needed an extra step of white paint to give it more texture and dimension.
This geometric abstract was inspired by one sold by Pottery Barn. This time I used a square canvas and just one green color to create a circle design.
