Traditionally, puffed eggs are covered with intricately patterned rectangles of washi paper, with cuts made at 1/4-inch intervals to the edge that runs the width of the egg, and each piece has a dot. Here I used Silhouette Studio® software to create a file to mechanize the cutting process and, by using self-adhesive sheets of Silhouette Washi paper, eliminated the need for messy wet finishing. glue or varnish.

The Silhouette Washi Sheets have three designs on each 12″ x 12″ sheet, so each sheet can cover 6 chicken-sized eggs. I used matte white faux eggs of a similar size.

These are the instructions for making a paper cover using Silhouette Studio® Designer Edition. This can be done in the basic version, just follow these instructions and copy the pointed pieces individually or in groups of 3 or 4 until you have collected enough.
If you haven’t used Washi sheets before, I recommend cutting the sheets and cutting the eggshells one at a time using the recommended settings and remember to do a test cut first. Then clean the unwanted parts of the wash using a weeding tool.
Peel off the paper little by little, the egg in the center and smooth the curved parts one by one, overlapping the top. Finish one section, top and bottom, before moving on to the next until the egg is completely covered.
