I know that doesn’t really give you a straight answer, so let’s break it down first. Why is TV on fire the wrong choice to start? Well- many people worry about raising their necks to look… just not the right height to look at. The exception to this is if you have a modern fire or a small fire (measurement, especially height, definitely comes into play). Another concern is that the TV competes with other focal points in the room – the fireplace itself, windows, built-ins, etc. Many people also hate the idea of seeing a bad TV set on a beautiful living room.

Living room for example. The television can only be placed on one wall and above the fireplace. Why? We have a large picture window on the left side of the room, an entry wall that opens to the kitchen on the side of the window wall, and depending on the size of the space – the bed can only fit in one way. This means that the TV must sit on the wall. We decided to renovate the fireplace and add a built-in…. So why did I choose to put the TV above the fireplace, instead of to the left or right, in one of the built-ins? To be honest – the asymmetry bothers me and our TV is too big to fit

I weighed the pros and cons and tried to do what was possible. I like the TV above the fireplace so the room feels more comfortable, but that means it has to be placed at the right viewing height. Therefore, I tried to solve the problem when buying a sofa. Back length is what you really want to look for in these situations. Make sure you choose a sofa with a back that you can lean on and rest your neck on the pillow comfortably.
