Every Diwali, I try to create excitement among the children with all the decorations, lights and crackers. Now they wait for it every year. Although your busy schedule may not give you time to implement all the ideas presented here, still try your best. Something is better than nothing. I am sharing some ideas from my home Diwali decoration that you can use in full or in pieces that suit you.

Diwali is the festival of lights. The outdoor decorative lighting is my husband’s responsibility and it really catches the attention of everyone around. Photos don’t do the effort justice, but the overall effect of the lighting was stunning.

They used professional installers for the ceiling lights, which cost about $500. He could do the rest of the lighting work himself, as it could be safely reached using a standard household ladder. They used programmable LED rope lights for traffic lanes and roundabouts around lamp posts. They decided to install grid-style LED lights for tree poles, house poles and larger plants. Continuous LED string lighting was used to form a pyramid around the lamp posts.

The main gate has special significance in Indian tradition. Many Indian traditions involve decorating the house or performing various ceremonies at the entrance of the puja room. This also applies to Diwali decorations.

On my last trip to India. These are some of the special things that I find every time I visit India. Diya means an earthen lamp used in the Indian subcontinent. These days, you can buy decorative beads from Indian stores in almost every major American city. If you don’t have time to visit your local store, they are also available on Amazon.

After a lot of research, I decided to use artificial flowers available on Amazon. I was pleased with the overall quality, feel and look of the flowers. I also used fresh flowers from my garden and the local grocery store. The lights were purchased from Pier1 Imports.

You can make rangoli with two colors and flowers. Since I have a baby, powder color doesn’t seem like a good idea. So I chose a simple design that can be made quickly in 10-15 minutes by combining natural and fake flowers.

Have you seen Rangoli before? A brass bowl for holding floating candles and flowers, Urli adds a unique dimension to any festive or ethnic decor. With floating candles and flowers, it adds dynamism to your static decor.

After all, it is the first entrance that visitors to your home see. It creates a first impression and anticipation to see if there is more. To get into the holiday spirit, you need to reflect the festive mood of your home. The decoration of the file presented here uses a central Ganesha statue walking on a medallion table and surrounded by ornaments consisting of bronze works and tea lamp candle holders.

You can easily see that I’m a big fan of Pier1 Imports. Most of the items in this decor are from the same shop. Whether you’re looking at table runners or tableware and candles, everything is from Pier1 Imports, collected over time. I continue to rotate them around the house to create new decorations using different combinations.

It has a good collection of runners and accessories. They are my weakness. So, whenever I see a good designer piece, I buy it for future use. Proportion provides a defined space and center of attraction that allows you to focus attention in a limited space. Runners add another texture to a space and help bring contrast in color and enhance other decor elements. I also used Kundan Rangoli as a filler in between the space to give it an ethnic touch.

Another example is the fireplace mantel, which is the centerpiece of the living room in an American home. You can create a beautiful ethnic decor by placing a few pieces on the fireplace and the space in front of the fireplace.

Here, I have used a combination of three independent elements to create diversity with the overall goal of representing the different ethnic elements of India. I used two beautifully decorated elephant heads with nettipattam and bronze musical instrument artefacts. During my trip to Kerala, I fell in love with the beautiful Nettipattam elephant heads and couldn’t resist adding them to my collection. I love the authenticity it adds to the usable space.

Diwali Home Decoration Ideas For This Year

The last but the most important place to decorate your home on the occasion of Diwali is the puja room and temple. Lakshmi Puja is the most important part of the entire Diwali celebration which is performed in the puja room of the temple. Due to the nature of my husband’s work, my family relocates every few years. So even though I want to have a separate puja room, for now I have to share it with the office.

So I use Rajasthani handmade wooden temple in matching background. In this background, tulle fabric decorated with peacock feathers, pearl bandhanwar and pearl strings has been used. The ends of the tulle were tied with brass elephant beads. This establishment enhances the outlook of worship.

The door of my puja room, which I share with my home office, is also decorated with Bandhanwar and flowers. Try adding small details like Satya stickers and Maha-Lakshmi footprints. The Swastika is associated with Ganesha, while the Maha-Lakmi footprints are associated with the goddess of wealth and prosperity. These small details add greatly to the impact of your decor.
