Bedroom Wall Molding Ideas Design – Our master bedroom has undergone a minor makeover. We started by removing the carpet and adding hardwood floors. The next project I want to do is add a mural to the large wall behind our bed. Our master bedroom is huge! Adding this wall adds some architecture and coziness to this large space. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! Keep scrolling to see what wall trim looks like on a large bedroom wall.
There are many types of wall trim ideas spread across Pinterest and Instagram. I knew I wanted to stick to a classic and simple design. I’m not into trendy home design, and I never get tired of this wall treatment, so keeping it classic is the way to go for me. Finally, I decided on a simple simple box and started adding pictures to the Pinterest board. Are you still using Pinterest! Ten years later, I still use it every day! It makes sure I never run out of design inspo!

We don’t have the tools or know how to do this project ourselves. In doing my research about the type of painting I want, I came across some leather and leather sticks. I thought this would be possible with the help of my husband. Still needed GOOD (ugh!) and time!

When I started asking on my Instagram story for ideas on who could help with a project like this, I came across Home Accents By Morgan. This is a local woman owned business in Kansas City, so I contacted her. Apparently, I can complete the maintenance of this wall about the same and it will cost me to order a peel and stick maintenance. To sell!
We have painted and added hardwood floors to this room. This large wall is what you see down our second floor hallway. It’s just a big, blank, white wall that needs some attention!
When you rent, the process is easy for the landlord, ha! I contacted Morgan and he asked me to measure the wall rough. He also asked for pictures of the walls and inspiration for what I wanted. Then, he went out to get accurate measurements with his fancy equipment! The next day, the team went out to finish the project. I chose not to paint the walls when they were done with the trim so this only took part of a day. They will paint for you if you want! I already had a full gallon of paint for this wall and I knew I could do it quickly, so I decided to save money on that part.
The team was so great to work with! I’m so glad they’re the ones who find places and do things even if it’s not me! They set up a table saw outside near the garage to cut pieces. There is nothing and it’s easy!

Since I chose to paint myself, there was some prep work before I started. The marks they made on the pencil come easily with a magic eraser and some elbow grease.
Morgan advised me to open the wall to cover all the dark nail holes. I had some white Primer in my stash and did a quick coat of Primer and let it dry.
After the primer dried, I added one coat of paint in Swiss Coffee color. Swiss Coffee is a warm white that works well with our cream trim. I used a paint brush to paint the wall and a small roller for the rest of the wall.
I am in awe and in awe of how much sympathy this wall adds to the space! Like flooring! Steve and the kids were amazed at how different the room looked by just adding wall pieces. It’s like a completely different place! This is one of those projects that has a low cost/time commitment for a BIG return. Now I want a box cutter added to every wall in my house! Taking care of this wall will make the room smaller and more comfortable.

Now I won’t even put the artwork behind the bed. Adding wall trim to this large wall is a work of art in itself! It speaks for itself. I’m all about adding texture and layers to a space, so this was the perfect addition to our home. XOI Installing frame molding in any room in your home will add charm and character and is easier to achieve than you might think.
The cold month of January was the perfect time to finish my picture frame print project and it was one of the first cutting projects I completed on my own. My husband started me and I hit the ground running from there and I finished everything myself.
After moving into our home in Tennessee, we spent the first few months painting our barn and shop. Our sole focus is to do just that and I spend hours every day trying to accomplish this HUMONGOUS task. Painting and decorating our master bedroom in our new home is at the top of my to-do list once the barn painting is done. I wanted to add more than just paint to our room but not overdo it so I decided to add a picture frame and molding so I’m glad.
The shape of the picture frame is usually rectangular or square in shape … think picture frame here. It’s like attaching a picture frame directly to your wall. It uses a combination of squares and rectangles that add texture and yes… charm to the room you are adding. You can add picture frame molding to the entire room to create a focal point or throughout your room like I did here. The shape can be very decorative or more simple. For this tutorial we used a simple basic stamp shape and attached it directly to the wall.

You may have heard different names for picture frame molding such as: panel molding, shadow box cutting, box paneling, molding or wainscoting.
There are many types of moldings that can be used in your home and we have used several different styles in our previous home to enhance the overall design. One of my favorites is the board and batten installed in our powder room. Boards and battens can be simple, complex or anywhere in between. We added some molding to the table and batten shown below to give it a nice finished edge.
There are also chair rails, crown molding, decorative wraps around your windows and even thin molding can be added to your ceiling such as in our dining room and living room. Adding trim to the ceiling adds elegance to the room and makes it stand out from the rest of the space. There is also shiplap, wainscoting and of course baseboards. All these molds are just basic and can be expanded or kept simple.
For this post we talk specifically about picture frame molding and how to plan, measure, install and finish picture frame molding for any room in your house.

Picture frame shapes are timeless and will never go out of style. I always look at historic houses and cutting, molding and millwork that adorns every room for inspiration. If you choose design elements that have been around for hundreds of years, you can’t go wrong. You can always update carpets, cushions and curtains, but focus on timeless millwork for your walls and your space will always be in fashion. I see beautiful modern houses that incorporate picture frames all the time and believe that it will be in style for a long time.
Planning is the most important step; in any project you have to plan and then check your plan. I had tested different box sizes to determine the overall final design I wanted. Using painter’s tape was helpful in allowing me to make adjustments and get the look I was going for right. These boxes are not guaranteed but without a visual it is difficult to calculate your final look and determine the size of the box.
Painter’s tape is a great way to tape the box and preview the finished design before you insert the mold.
Using tape will not only give you the size of the box but also show you how much space there is between each box. We have more walls than long walls in this room, so it took some time to find the final look for each wall that flows with the other walls. That’s why tapping is so important.

Once you determine your difference, work one wall at a time to figure out your box. It’s unlikely that every wall will have the same size box, but make sure the spaces between the boxes are the same.
