Calligraphy Ideas Design – I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful season. Fall is my favorite time of year! Anyway, that’s when I feel most creative and tend to pull out my colorful pens and paint palette to try it out. I thought I’d share resources I’ve been loving lately along with some fall lettering inspiration.

My all-time favorite pen is the Tombo Dual Brush Pen. They’re perfect for thick, luscious strokes and I love the huge range of colors they offer, there’s something for everyone.

I used their black pen to write the text on the spooktacular card below. I used the tip of the brush for the letters and switched to the fine end of the brush to draw simple ghosts in the background. This would be a perfect card for a late October birthday!

Another absolute favorite of mine is the Pentel Brush Sign Pen. They are great for thin typefaces and can be easy to use for beginners. I used olive green color from their range and wrote this fall card. I used a fine-tipped gold pen to draw some leaf detail in the background. A simple but effective look!

I often get blank cards from paper boxes, they come in a variety of sizes and colors.

Try adding ink blots or hand-drawn pumpkins to your Halloween cards, signs or posters. I used a micron pen to outline the pumpkins and painted them with a scarlet tombo brush pen (925).

Halloween-themed gift tags can add a special touch to candy bags, cookies, and small gifts for trick-or-treating. I love the look of these simple craft paper cards written with black pentel pens. Try to use short 1-3 word phrases to fit this size of card.

If you have a watercolor palette, try painting some fall elements like leaves, branches, berries, and mushrooms. They can change the design of your letters and make them stand out even more.

Using a pencil and a rough piece of paper, create your floral design. We’ve used a floral design here, but you can adapt it to whatever theme or pattern calls for it.

We recommend sketching out your design first so you can visualize the space and make sure your design fits well on the paper. We did our floral design on one side to leave room for the calligraphy on the other side.

Once you’re happy with your sketch, take a duotip marker and use the pointed tip to outline your flowers. We used a black duotip marker but you can use any color you want.

We’re still working on the sketch design here to make sure we’re happy with it before moving on to the final piece!

When you are satisfied with your design, transfer it to your card. You can recreate your initial test sketch or re-draft your design on a piece of card.

By re-drafting your design, you can make some adjustments and correct things you didn’t like the first time!

We decided to fill in only sections of the design to ensure there was enough white space. In the next step we’ll be adding more color so it’s important to start with less because you can add more later!

Using another color, fill in the rest of the design. Remember to keep it “rough” and “messy” as this will help give your design a unique look.

We chose a modern calligraphy style but you can add any style to your design. Use our favorite nibs to write your design. You can use a ruler to create some calligraphy guides, but if you don’t need it, you can skip this step.

I have been working from home as a calligrapher since 2012. Over the years I have provided a variety of services and products to my clients. In this post, I’ve collected 5 of my favorite calligraphy projects that I plan to sell to you!

My first and top choice for calligraphy projects, I recommend you start selling prints that have inspiring, engaging, inspiring and fun inscriptions! People are always looking to update their gallery wall, dorm or bedroom with new, affordable and stylish art!

You can handwrite your quote, digitize your calligraphy, and create a digital file of the quote that you can print at home or use a local printer to print for you. I did this in 2012 when I first started selling my calligraphy prints for several years and they were a huge hit! I still sell them today!

I recommend learning how to digitize your letters using Adobe Illustrator (it’s my favorite app) as it will open up a lot of money making opportunities for you!

When I think of custom signs, I think of many different surfaces and uses! I have written custom signs for weddings, small businesses and special occasions. I often use art canvases and oil markers to create signs, however I have also written letters on chalkboards, wooden boards, etc.

There are so many applications and uses for custom signs that you can make money all year long with this simple and fun calligraphy project for sale! Decide what industry you want to serve and create some really eye-catching and beautiful signs.

Selling greeting cards has been another way for me to make money over the years using my calligraphy and handwriting. I print, package and send hundreds if not thousands of greeting cards every year.

I supply bulk, custom greeting cards at Christmas and wholesale to local retailers throughout the year. Adding simple, beautiful greeting cards to your calligraphy business is something you should consider doing.

Again, it’s helpful to know how to digitize your letters, and whether to print them at home or work with a printer is your choice when thinking about selling greeting cards.

You can also find beautiful packaging and ways to wrap your greeting cards. Remember that birthday cards are the most popular, followed by Christmas and weddings.

I can’t even tell you how many hours I spend at my printer creating fun, attractive and custom mugs for customers! Then, providing glasses and anything else you can think of to write on is a great calligraphy project to sell.

There are also many options for adding text to products. You can use heat transfer, vinyl stickers, and even oil-based markers! There are many options, so I recommend deciding on 2-3 products you want to sell and how you will add content to them.

From there, your imagination will take care of the rest! Oh, and offering a customization service is a great idea because customers love being able to gift products like this to friends and family. You can have a lot of fun with this calligraphy project for sale.

I haven’t done this personally, but I’ve seen many calligraphers and letterers offer SVG or digital files of their lettering. I think adding your calligraphy business is a great source of passive income for you!
