We had a smaller piece of furniture and it looked so small next to this wall. One of the most important things I’ve learned about interior design is the importance of scale and in general: think big!

Check out my article on our IKEA media console or this one on creating a very large media console if you need something similar with lots of storage. On the other hand, if you’re shopping for a smaller space or prefer a different look, here are some finds:

I had another olive tree before, but again the scale was too small. It didn’t fill the space next to the TV and that always bothered me. The larger tree still looks airy, but the extra height and width make a big difference (see this article to compare).

On the left side, I wanted to include something to warm up the corner by the family photo gallery wall. I had been eyeing this bamboo blanket ladder for a while, but was worried it might be too short.

However, I ended up ordering it anyway and solved the height problem by stacking boxes under the stairs – an easy fix! I love how the curved top of the blanket ladder breaks up all the rectangular shapes in our living room.

Nothing much has changed here, I just enjoyed arranging a few new pieces like the blue linen pillow and the gold vase. I hope to add a ceiling light to this room soon!

I hope you found this article useful. Do you have built-in shelves in your living room or a blank wall like me? I’d love to know your favorite way to arrange your TV wall in a way! A well-designed TV wall can make all the difference to a movie night (nothing beats a big-screen cinematic experience) while also meeting the practical needs of life.

When turned off, TV screens can sometimes be a real eyesore, even more so if unsightly wires or cables are exposed that spoil the aesthetics. But there are some smart and stylish TV wall ideas (which you can browse below) to help you hide your TV or integrate it seamlessly into your living space. While technology has also developed in recent years, it certainly helps, and TVs can now become works of art – Samsung’s frame is a great example – that turns the TV into a picture frame when not in use.

A contemporary choice is a media wall, which allows you to mount a flat screen TV on the wall to display other media, including speakers, game consoles and record players. Usually, but not always, a media wall is installed over a pre-existing fireplace or with a new fireplace insert. Get professional advice on fitting, half-timbered walls and electrical. Media walls are also great storage solutions because they keep all your entertainment devices in one place. Media walls can take up a lot of space, but they are customizable so they can work in more compact rooms with the right design. But they are expensive, with installation prices ranging from £2,000 to £4,000, according to Checkatrade.

A more popular TV wall idea is to incorporate a TV into built-in cabinets. “Integrating the TV into a unit allows the technology to blend into the look of the room so that the TV is not the focal point of the room,” says Natalie Murray-Hurst, interior architect at Murray Hurst Interiors. It’s especially useful in a small living room as it helps to streamline and organize a space while making the most of the space and really maximizing the vertical space (from floor to ceiling).

Don’t fancy custom units or a media wall? You may simply want to mount a TV on a wall or use a stand to create a background – wallpaper or a clever paint effect – that will add interest to your room in a cohesive way. It is also a cost-effective option. In this case, invest in cable channels and cable management boxes to hide unsightly wires.

“Positioning a TV on a fireplace mantel is always challenging, but it shouldn’t be avoided with a little planning,” advises Jaki Willson, marketing consultant at Falchi Interiors. “There must be sufficient space between the basket and the TV (in this case we allowed 15cm), fire resistant materials must be used for any casings and frames, and vents must be incorporated into the design to allow air circulation. .’
