Name Design Ideas Drawing – Students learn to draw their name in simple block letters. They use 1-point perspective to make the letters look 3D, then are encouraged to embellish the design as creatively as possible. This is a great introductory lesson for new classes.
2. Divide the instructions into rectangular boxes – 1 box for each letter of the students name – show students how to divide the space evenly.

3. Show students how to change the block letter shape by drawing/removing each rectangular box. Emphasize breaking down complex letterforms into simpler ones and building from them.

7. Add perspective lines to the sides of the letters, showing students how to stop their lines when they hit the “wall” next to the letter.
9. Students decorate the foreground and background of their name design by drawing with pencil, outlining with marker, and coloring with crayon.
After learning the initial skill, students complete a practice sheet (attached) to demonstrate knowledge of 1-point perspective.
