Decorating Ideas For College Girl – My daughter moved out of college this year and lives in an apartment with several other girls. . Let’s start the journey there!
The star of the show in this room is definitely the botanical wall art. I still had a lot of pages left in the book I used for my kitchen botanical gallery wall, so I cut some more out. (My exact book varies greatly in price, but you can use any botanical book or search for printable images online to achieve a similar look.)

I picked up the gingham prints for the main sale from the summer collection at Hobby Lobby. They were only a few bucks each and I thought a collection of framed art would be cute and cost effective for the girls’ apartment. . made of wood cut to size. The design and color possibilities are endless if you go that route! I also bought plain black frames from Hobby Lobby for the prints (which are also a good set) and placed each print on a piece of poster board as a bed. A small drop of hot glue on each corner easily stuck the black frame to the canvas.

I originally ordered neutral curtain panels, but we agreed that the room needed a pop of color, so the pink coral set was perfect. These sold out really quickly when I bought them, but I’m glad they’re back in stock! They are so cheap that I ordered another set after taking these pictures so I could sew two panels together so that each one is double width – it had to be a bit wider to completely cover the window. An 84″ length would be fine for this window, but I ordered 95″ so I moved quickly thinking I could hang them a little higher and that Emily would want to use them in a future house with taller windows. I found it on Ross, but it’s really similar
The room was furnished with mostly large furniture, but I found a TV stand on FB Marketplace and brought a few small accent pieces from home. I found the floor lamp in the corner at FBMP and salvaged the table lamp and then painted both black to match the room.
This pillow case went perfectly with the curtains. The living room has a great floor plan with a kitchen and living room, with a small dining table at the other end of the kitchen.
I was looking for a curtain that I plan to cut up to make cafe style curtains for the kitchen window, but that didn’t turn out to be a practical idea. Instead, I used fabric to make this wreath covered in foam board to add a little something to the window. Planning to make a quick tutorial on it. A mild symptom was also found to eliminate HL.
College Dorm Room Decorations Guide For 2024
If you’ve seen her bedroom before, you may remember that we featured this beautiful lamp above the bedside table, but we decided it would be more interesting in the main living room. I hung it on the empty wall of the kitchen table with an old mirror I kept here (the green one!) and a fake flower I picked up.
I think I made three trips between the move and cleaning, decorating, and then decorating some more. It was the end of a long, hot day, but we are very excited to have him in a new space for this year!
I posted some pictures of her bedroom a few months ago ( here and here ), but since then we’ve made a few changes and moved a few things around, so this is a different look. We used some brackets under the bed frame and this long simple bed was perfect for covering things underneath. 😉
This monogram art was a DIY project I did for her room last year, but this year I painted the initials to add a little more color. The pendant lights were a fun addition for soft lighting and she loves the new jorganics and cute pillows!

When we moved the lamp to another room, we hung a print of her favorite cat here, and yes, she still loves that old school solid alarm clock!
I love the built in shelves and tables in each of the rooms, it really helps with storage!
We added a few decorative items to the shelves, but for the most part, only the “things” that you use every day are placed in the baskets, little things on display. I love the desk chair – we moved an uncomfortable chair in the living room for extra seating.
I pulled up a pair of neutral curtains from a big garage sale for her window (after cutting them in half lengthwise and pinning! – similar affordable pair here ). She wanted to make it a little more empty, so I got her a makeup mirror. After I took these pictures, I told her to move the quilt basket to the other side of the room and lower her chest to give her more leg room!
How To Decor And Remodel College Bedroom For Girls?
Not surprisingly, their apartment smelled a bit damp, so I had a bunch of charcoal bags spread around the room. They really help absorb odors, and you can expose them to the sun for an hour or two every month to reactivate them. This set comes with some hooks so you can choose them as a great product!
A few days before we moved him, I received the payments from FBMP. The price was right, but someone hadn’t bothered to cover it before painting the room white, so there were paint chips and a few rough spots everywhere. I quickly sanded the handles and applied a fresh coat, buffing them with my favorite brass steel and a toothbrush (here’s a project tutorial with the gel polish used). It worked out really well and gave her some much needed drawer space.
