The first item on the punch list was to paint the cabinets. It will make the space brighter and more open.

The first thing we do when making room in our budget is to see what we can save. Sticking to a schedule and not moving water lines could save thousands of lives.

The goal of this small brick kitchen design was to keep the same layout and update what was there. Painting walls and cabinets, adding new hardware to cabinets, new ceiling lights, new parking and back ramp.

New flooring has already been added and we will keep the siding and the same upholstery that we removed for cleaning.

To the lower right of the water was an unfenced open area. So we measured the space and bought a new base cabinet with drawers. It’s a perfect match, it’s a little different but it blends perfectly after swatching!

With so little space, deciding what color to paint the cabinets was very important. I know I want the upper cabinets and walls to be white. It will open up the space and not just look like a room full of drawers.

A two-tone cabinet would work best to add some interest and color. At first it felt good to do the dark lower cabinets, but I wanted the whole place to be light and airy. So we went with Benjamin Moore October Mist for the lower cabinets and Benjamin Moore Plain White for the upper cabinets.

When I came across this Zellige ceramic subway tile at Lowe’s, I knew I had to use it! I love the color variation and it looks like the famous Cloe tile but for less!

New quartz counters were installed and a new stainless steel sink was added. We went with a gorgeous single sink faucet and paired it with a gorgeous gold faucet.

A beautiful new light fixture that provides excellent lighting when the sun isn’t shining through the windows compliments the kitchen very well.

We were able to save the original hood and stove and it looks amazing in the space. Because of the dark cabinets and general lighting in the room, we thought the upholstery was white. I even cleaned it and it looked white. We brought it into the kitchen until everything was painted and it turned out a beautiful bright white! The lighting is dark!

We painted the walls Sherwin Williams Pure White and added beautiful roman shades to the windows to bring in the warmth.

There’s a great retro fridge for space off the small kitchen and a lovely breakfast buffet before heading into the dining room.

To fill the space in the front, we installed a built-in drawer organizer for bins and drawers in the included main cabinet.

To dry dishes on board, we purchased dish drying racks and appliances that can be stored in the excess cupboards in this galley.

This small kitchen design fits perfectly! Despite the limited space, I think I managed to make a big statement. Instead of a dark hallway filled with closets, it became a fresh, light and airy space.
