Corner Decoration Ideas – Are you looking for inspiration to fill that awkward, empty corner of your home? I’ve got you covered! Today I will share how to decorate a corner in the living room… 10 different ways!

I’ve been an interior designer for a long time and there’s one place that always seems to be a challenge: those interesting corners of the living room! Left empty, they can look barren and uninviting. If they are too full, they can make your whole house a mess. They are not large enough for a large piece of furniture, but are usually quite large for small decorative items. Here are some ideas I came up with on how to decorate the corner of the living room.

A stylish floor lamp can be both practical and decorative. It’s the perfect addition to an empty living room corner. A unique lamp can add beauty to your corner and bring much needed light to the room. I always love a floor lamp next to a sofa, and something with a big curved arm can fill an empty corner space beautifully.

Creating a gallery wall or adding a large piece of framed art is a great way to fill an empty corner. It can add a lot of personality to your living room! Choose from a collection of favorite artwork, family or together photos and create a gallery that reflects your style. You can frame them in different sizes or colors and don’t be afraid to mix and match the frames. If you don’t like the look of a gallery wall, a large piece of art is a good option. Don’t be afraid to fill most of the wall with frames. When it comes to statement art, bigger is usually better!

Turning a corner into a cozy reading corner can be the best way to create a pleasant atmosphere in your living room. Choose an easy chair, add a small table or console table, and add a blanket basket nearby. We added a reading nook to the living room corner of our small lake house and our guests love it. For this, we used an outdoor seed chair from Walmart paired with an air purifier table from IKEA. With some DIY pillows to complete the look, it’s a combination of practicality and comfort! A cozy reading nook can also be used as a small home office if you can find a small desk that can slide up to a chair. Doesn’t that sound like the best kind of work environment?!

Picture shelves are a great way to add visual interest to a dull corner of your living room. These shelves can be used to display art or you can use them to store books or small decorative items. I like the IKEA MOSSLANDA picture shelves because they are not as deep as a typical corner shelf, which makes them ideal for small spaces. They can also be practical solutions. We used part of my brother’s living room to hide his thermostat behind some art!

Adding some greenery to your living room is a great way to bring nature inside and create a clean and welcoming atmosphere. A tall plant in a decorative pot can be a great addition to a corner, or you can create a small indoor garden on a small table or bench. I always recommend live plants if you have the space and time for them. However, there are some beautiful fake plants on the market, such as these fake olive trees. Whether they are real or fake, adding greenery to your space always makes it more attractive.

Adding an accent chair to a corner of your living room can provide additional seating and make your room feel cozy and comfortable. Choose a unique design that complements your existing space and adds some texture and color to the corner. Don’t forget to measure your corner and choose the right seat. Some corners can only accommodate an apartment-sized chair, while others can accommodate a full-sized chair. I always love a good accent chair that really shows off your personality! Add some fun pillows and your corner will come alive.

If you want to entertain guests, a bar cart in the corner of the living room can be a functional and visually appealing addition. Display your favorite spirits, glassware and cocktail accessories and turn the cart into a stylish and inviting mini-bar. Alternatively, the bar cart can be used to create a mobile coffee station. I did this in our living room, and it turned out beautiful! Click here to view my coffee cart.

Mirrors can be a beautiful way to create the illusion of space in a small living room. A large mirror in a beautiful frame can be an attractive feature that adds depth, reflects light and complements the rest of your decor. This is a corner decorating idea that I have used several times in a room renovation. You can never go wrong with an extra mirror in your space! I often use mirrors as wall decor and there is a mirror for every home decor style.

A small corner fireplace can be a wonderful addition to your living room. And you don’t need to do any major renovations for this living room corner idea! There are beautiful electric fireplaces on the market that are specially made for corners. We put a small electric stove in the living room corner of our little lake house that looks like a wood stove. It acts as a space heater and adds a focal point to the room.

If you have children with a lot of toys, or if you want extra storage space, adding a cabinet in the corner of the room is a good solution. I did this with several different IKEA cabinets – PAX cabinets and HAVSTA cabinets. Each of them can be attached directly to the corner wall, which makes this empty space much more useful. You can store anything and everything in such cabinets. Both have the option of installing bookshelves, and I find that a closed cabinet looks a lot cleaner than open shelving for storage.

Whether you choose to create a gallery wall, reading nook or storage area, I hope you’ve enjoyed these design ideas to make the most of your corner. With a little imagination and a few decorative items, you can add function, style and beauty to your living room!

Hi, I’m Christina Dennis, the creative force behind DIY Mommy. I’m all about budget friendly DIY and decorating ideas to brighten up your space. Let’s build homes that bring us joy, one project at a time! 🌟You may remember that I rearranged my kitchen to create a dual purpose room. I made a sitting area and moved the table near the window to the kitchen. The kitchen has rarely been used, but this new build creates a space that I want to enjoy every day. But moving the table means empty corners. Today I will share two corners of the room and how to decorate a cozy corner of the farmhouse.

Don’t have the perfect desk to create a cozy corner? no sweat I turned things I had in storage into a rustic farmhouse side table / side table.

I started with this small table, but it’s just not right. It was too short and I really wanted it to go on the wall but still be in the center of the light. And honestly, I couldn’t think of anything to put below.

When I was looking for baskets to stack on the table to add height, I came across this large wooden tray. Somehow it turned into a desktop creation.

To hide all the ugly under the skirt, I used tension rod and some curtain panels to make a skirt.

I wanted the design of the table to be warm and cozy and still suitable for the kitchen. Warmth was achieved with a natural interior, and the kettle and china are definitely a staple in the kitchen.

Are vintage prints fun? For me they are! This is the sitting area side of the room. I filled the corner with vintage floral tapestries, an antique bakery rack full of ironstone, and an old dresser pattern.

The shape of the dress also covers the print. I just printed out a free photo, colored it with tea and put it in this antique frame. You can find a link to the free image that appeared in the previous post and also about tea coloring.
