Perpetual Paper Chains
These are similar to the paper chains that kids love (okay, not like kids… they still love traditional paper chains!), but they stay flat and are attached and decorated with washi tape.
You can make them with white card stock to display the tape recorder, or use colored stock for a brighter bouquet. I made two sizes of pentagons, and while the picture here only shows a small size, I will be making a few more pentagons soon. I can’t wait to make a longer chain soon!
Cut out the pentagon, then cut out the center. The line through the pentagon is the “ring” that allows you to cut through the center and connect all the pieces together. Cutting is the most time consuming part.
Use washi tape to tie the ends of each ring pentagon. Start with one, add a ring to the chain and a candle. Prohibition!

I like to make patterns with a washi tape machine, but you can do it this way. They will look great with every pentagon using the same device.
Make your necklace as long as you want. Wear it as a necklace (be careful you cut the paper!). Show near the window. Decorate your table with it. Pentagon hanging everywhere!
My mom thought of a bunch of them in red, white, and blue. It will play a bigger role, and it may be from the memory of that day through Independence Day. I think they look great! The concept of time is so abstract that it is difficult to explain to children. We use paper links to count exciting events!
We were all happy that my nephew came to us for the first time. She’s just E’s cousin. At 14 years old, this idol is E/’s best friend! When we see it, the two girls are gone, spending as much time together as possible. He’s staying with us for a week, much to the delight of E! It is a great help with children!
How To Make Easy And Simple Paper Borders-1/paper Chain Cutting Ideas
Visiting with La this weekend only turned on E’s emotions. When we got to the house on the 3 1/2 hour drive on Saturday, E said “I’m so excited, I’m happy! I LOVE La! It’s my favorite!”
La already knew how many days were left until her visit, so we decided to follow the countdown with paper chains. We use our magnetic calendars to mark the days when we visit places we visit often and people we see often, but for special events, like a trip to LA, a paper chain countdown is perfect!
It’s not a new idea, but I added a few things to make it more interactive and educational. We started by cutting a one inch strip of construction paper. We made patterns with colors (revisiting what we worked on in our summer co-op preschool class) while forming our chains and tying ties into links.
After the chain is finished, I write a number on each page so we know how many days are left. This will be the E number to perform the recognition.

We found the perfect place to hang out. Every morning E will practice her sewing skills by cutting a link and one day we will arrive in La!
