Well, I don’t have any cheese like this around, so I decided to try my hand at building one. But it had to fit within the criteria I set… for this contest (A Table)… It also had to pack small storage, have a removable fabric top, a folding table, and there are accessories like trays and expensive nice things. Because that thing is cool and I wanted it.

Note that this was too much felt for this project, but as you’ll see later, the board was designed so that the top can be replaced with new felt if it gets damaged or worn, but it was also sold at 50% off. .

I thought about this painting many times in my head, but when I put it on paper I couldn’t figure out some of the features of the painting… like a spare ball of fabric (if it got damaged or not). I was running into a couple of challenges…it was engineering and not being able to use one of my original sheets in the engineering designs. This single scale measurement helped me solidify the design and it turned out better.
You’ll see some failed ideas in the designs, but in the end I think I’ve made the most efficient use of materials, as well as a strong permanent design that allows me to remove the fabric if needed. I’ll explain the “work” in more detail in a later step, but that’s what makes this table so elegant, its compact design, and the ability to remove and replace the fabric if necessary.

This step, like the tools, will be different for your project, but the goal was to use the table design we already had as well as the 4-seater (spoiler alert we can use the 6-seater!) So I started measuring. and break the plate carefully to avoid cuts to create “joints”, clamps and even some accessory trays. The cutting line was important to make sure I had the cuts long enough for the strips, but also a little wide for the trays.

My quilt will be two pieces of cardboard cut and glued together, with the top strip (the one with the felt on top and folded over) 1 1/2 inches wide. So if I want the dimensions of the end table to be 28 x 60 inches, I would have to cut my sheet to 25 x 57 inches, because after folding the bone, the strip will add 1 1/2 inches to each side. Clear…as…always!
The pots are sized to fit the dimensions of the folding table where my ball will be placed. They’re sad little thin patches because that’s all I had left from the cut, but I think it helps hold the weight, it worked in the end. I didn’t get a photo of this step but I flipped the top of the last tree upside down and placed the folding table on top and centered it. Once I had it centered, I marked the screws that would screw the God in around the plastic table, these were then glued and held in place using a short screw so they wouldn’t go into the face. It works well and has a very solid finish.
In these photos you can see me growing with cut pods. The only measurement taken for this step is the 1 1/2 inch top layer of the double wave. All other measurements depended on what I had left and how wide it needed to be cut. The second picture looks like the sheet is smaller, but if you look closely you will see that the lining has been added and the double sandwich seams give the piece a lot of rigidity.
After removing the curtain, I glued it over the center pieces. I wrapped them around each side and cut them into the plywood. They are stuck so that the sentiment can be removed and replaced in the future.

PRO TIP: It’s easier to roll up a large piece of felt and then use a rotary cutter to cut out that sweet.
I didn’t photograph the sanding process (You’re welcome!) I sanded the orbital box by hand with 220 grit to a smooth finish and gave the steel a simple polish to protect it. Many people do a better job of sanding and exposing the finish. The only special “finishing” project I added was the two turn brackets on the bottom to connect the two halves of the table together.
The size of the table, for my needs, we designed to leave a large knee at the end of the sheet exactly 4 feet by 8 feet. What I was going to use was to grab as many accessory trays as possible and although my last photos show us using 6 trays, I was only able to get 4 of the cutouts. When I realized we could accommodate more people, I added to my sweet game with 2 more seats!
I was so happy because the trays can be so creative and the table is well… flat. The trays I needed had a few features. They had space for writing, slotted cards, were symmetrical, could be used by left or right handed players, and took up the least amount of space on the board… I NEED A SUBSCRIPTION FIRST!

I was very limited with the supplies I had left, so I had to measure…and measure again…and measure again to increase the number of trays I could get. They were smaller than I wanted, but we got 4 x 4 x 8 sheets and they were very small. I made a molded wooden template for the puzzle to keep everything consistent.
NOTE: The way you attach the tray to the table uses a screw that should be the thickness of the two sheets you made your table from, the plywood I used (construction grade) was not exactly 3/4 inch. so I based all my measurements on placing two cuts and measuring the exact thickness. If this measurement is not accurate the trays will not hold together and may be useless.
The length, width and thickness are up to you, but the thickness of the opening should be measured and doubled when making the strips to ensure a tight fit.
