Backyard Decorating Ideas On A Budget

Backyard Decorating Ideas On A Budget – The beauty of spring and summer is that we can use our yards to expand our living space! I like that. The snow, ice and cold are gone and we can sit outside for hours enjoying the fresh air. Children can think of the outdoors as their playroom. I began to enjoy a completely different form of entertainment. We often think about decorating our front porches, but why do we overlook the backyard space when we think about decorating? I’ve rounded up some backyard decorating ideas to make your extra living space even better this year!

I was lucky enough to have a forest behind my house and I was able to create a secluded romantic swing area at the end of the cul-de-sac. But even if you don’t have that option, this piece of outdoor furniture is a great backyard decorating idea! Swings add extra seating and also add some character and whimsy to any space. You can place it on your deck or lawn, wherever the space fits best. Then, add decorative items like blankets and cushions to the swing. Tables are featured for guests to place their cold drinks on and some potted plants are placed around to set the mood.

The twinkling lights are of course the perfect touch! I wrapped a nearby tree in Christmas lights and placed a row of string lights behind it for effect. I also added a lantern. For my own swing, I didn’t do any DIY (shocking, I know!) and ordered a Wood Canyon Patio Swing from The Brick with this project in mind. The swing looks simple and comfortable and I am very happy with my choice. This is one of my favorite backyard ideas!

Small Backyard Ideas For A Dreamy Outdoor Oasis

Granted, it’s for fall, but we all know that even summer nights can be cool in this part of the world. So even in July, it’s inappropriate to add blankets and pillows to your outdoor living room! I found these amazing Muskoka chair sets online at Costco. I painted them to match the color scheme I chose and then added accessories to create an outdoor oasis. You can use planters, pots, or potted plants and herbs as focal points to really make your fire pit area sparkle!

If you want extra privacy, or have an ugly “landscape” you want to cover, like I did in our backyard, using an inexpensive trellis is an easy idea. We had some old PVC lattice panels from our little lake house renovation, so I decided to install them on the retaining wall in our backyard to hide an ugly mound of dirt.

To install them, I screwed some planks to the bottom of the deck and then used wood screws to screw the lattice board to the planks. To add to the ambiance, I put some string lights on the panels and I love how it makes our backyard look more sophisticated! You can see how I added trellis to this patio decorating YouTube video on my channel.

When it finally warms up here, I can’t wait to set up my romantic crochet-edged cotton hammock again in the woods behind us. Hammocks are a great backyard decor idea! It can transform part of your outdoor area into a comfortable and functional place for rest and relaxation. Don’t forget that the balcony is also a backyard space! Just because you don’t have a big backyard doesn’t mean you can’t turn your porch into an outdoor room that will fill you with joy all summer long. You can add a small outdoor dining table or a set of conversation chairs to help you enjoy your space. I recently proved that a balcony can be cozy when I designed the balcony area of my parents’ lake house. This porch was inspired by a picture of a striped and fringed umbrella I found on Pinterest. I added a patio set of two chairs and a decorative table. To make a French style umbrella, I glued some decorations to an Amazon umbrella and placed it on the balcony to provide some shade.
