I began to enjoy a completely different form of entertainment. We often think about decorating our front porches, but why do we overlook the backyard space when we think about decorating? I’ve rounded up some backyard decorating ideas to make your extra living space even better this year!
I was lucky enough to have a forest behind my house and I was able to create a secluded romantic swing area at the end of the cul-de-sac. But even if you don’t have that option, this piece of outdoor furniture is a great backyard decorating idea! Swings add extra seating and also add some character and whimsy to any space. You can place it on your deck or lawn, wherever the space fits best. Then, add decorative items like blankets and cushions to the swing. If you want extra privacy, or have an ugly “landscape” you want to cover, like I did in our backyard, using an inexpensive trellis is an easy idea. We had some old PVC lattice panels from our little lake house renovation, so I decided to install them on the retaining wall in our backyard to hide an ugly mound of dirt.
To install them, I screwed some planks to the bottom of the deck and then used wood screws to screw the lattice board to the planks. To add to the ambiance, I put some string lights on the panels and I love how it makes our backyard look more sophisticated!
