You can see my original dining room reveal here. Here are the things I’m changing in this mini makeover:

Finally, I will also replace our dining room table and chairs because the table is too small for the space.
How To Style Dining Room Buffet Like A Pro
But first, I’m focusing on decorating the buffet table! Keep reading to see three different design options for your dining room buffet or sideboard!
In addition to the buffet table, I will also keep the canvas prints above it. I found them at HomeGoods a few years ago and the colors match the sideboard perfectly.
This option adds better greenery and flowers with neutral tones and pieces I already own. In my opinion, larger stems often look more realistic. I already have the candle and the Tuscan pot. As you can see in the picture, decorating a sideboard is easiest in sets of 3 – ie. 3 candles of varying heights on one side, a larger vase, a smaller flower, and an accent piece on the other.
This option shows lamps on both sides of the sideboard, which adds good height and weight to the ends of the table because these are large lamps. I like the symmetry this option provides, but I don’t think I need additional lighting in my room. You should also add other texture and shorter items like I showed with the clock and bone boxes with beads layered on top.

Another option is to connect the two with one anchor lamp and one green to anchor the other side. In this design, I used two picture frames of different sizes to solve my problem with the awkward picture frame. Picture frames tend to look best in sets!
Which option is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below! And stay tuned to see how my buffet table decoration turns out! One of my favorite things to decorate for Christmas is our buffets/whiteboards. Today, I am sharing many ideas for decorating a dining room for Christmas.
In our dining room, our buffet area is very long because I actually have two buffet boards set up next to each other. You can see all the details of this dining room side hack here.
This is what it looks like most of the year when I’m not decorating it for the holidays.
78 Dining Room Decor Ideas For A Stylish Entertaining Space
Last week, I posted my Natural and Modern Christmas Home Tour, where I shared some photos of what I created for our bouffants here this year. Today I thought I’d share more details about it and share some other ways I’ve decorated our buffet in the past.
All of the designs for this site went viral on Pinterest so it seems that viewers like the ideas and have incorporated them into their own homes. I received dozens of photos from viewers showing me how they created similar looks on their own deck boards! So much fun!!
This 2018 Silver and Gold Glam Christmas Centerpiece Image (sorry about the photography…I just started!!) has over 1 million impressions in the last 30 days alone! Crazy!
If you saw my Christmas home tour last week, you know that it was my goal to create a simple, natural and modern look this year. It must have been this vignette.
French Country Farmhouse Christmas Dining Room & Table Setting
In the last few years, I have used a variety of Christmas cone trees and decorated around them. I’ll show you more of these ideas a little later in this post. This year, I decided to change them with lamps for a simple and classic look.
Creating this look was super easy! I simply placed about 6 feet of natural mixed garland on the sideboards, allowing it to drip off the side of the sideboards for added drama. I think it really adds to an elegant feel to the centerpiece.
Second, I placed the copper candlesticks, randomly, in front of and behind the fresh evergreens. No trick to this!
Because the mirrors sit in front of the mirror, it doubles the drama when you turn them on. I just love it!

The next step included adding some extra branches from the cedar tree to drape off the side boards.
Finally, I simply placed some of my treasured glass ornaments for a touch of holiday celebration. You can really use any combination of embellishments and colors for this. We have a few functions this season in our home, so I wanted to keep this area somewhat neutral so I could do something on our main dining room table here.
As I mentioned before, I have used Christmas cone trees for the past two years for this area. All I did this year was replace the cone trees with the lamps. Here are some photos of how I used them.
For this design (from 2 years ago), I came up with the Christmas cone trees! I don’t have a coat in our main living room so I sometimes treat this area as if it were my coat.

This gorgeous sideboard was designed by a friend, Karen of Sanctuary Home. I love how she kept it simple with just the garland and candles!
This is another beautiful example of draping garlands from the side of a sideboard. I love how she strung the twinkling lights over the garland.
How To Use A Sideboard Buffet In A Living Room
Christmas is just days away, so I hope you enjoyed seeing all the ideas for decorating a breadboard for Christmas! I’m crazy busy today preparing our neighbors for a progressive dinner. Have a blessed holiday season! HO HO HO Last weekend I spent time styling a buffet table for a client and she couldn’t believe how it turned out so stylish in just a few minutes using things she already owned (half of which was hidden in the buffet). So today I thought I’d share my top tips for styling your buffet. Just like your coffee table there are certain design rules, but otherwise, you can use anything you already own. No need to go shopping. I also can’t stand when I read something and there are more than a few tips, how am I going to remember everything. Here I provide just 3 quick easy ideas to take your buffet table from blah to, well, not blah.
I found the perfect examples of a styled buffet. I love the use of a tray, you can keep a mini-stacked bar on it if you don’t have room for a bar cart, or like me, a collection of serving pieces. Also, it is typical that most dining rooms have a ceiling light of some sort, or a chandelier. I like to add a table lamp to the buffet table (or bar cart) in the dining room because, well, sometimes you are at home and want a little glam light in the dining area but not necessarily a chandelier. So always remember to find a place for an elegant table lamp. Finally, it is important to play with different heights. That goes for any type of table styling, you can see how the cool designers do it below.

When decorating your sideboard at home, start focusing on what is on the wall behind it. Make sure the weight of your artwork is suitable for the sideboard. That being said, we chose a large oil painting to balance this heavy piece of furniture. Next, we hung similar sized, but not matching, artwork on
