School Library Wall Decoration Ideas – I finally (finally) decorated my school library. Hey, and it’s only October. Wow! Anyway, I wanted to share some ideas here, point to some cool resources, and even share a free printable travel poster.
The pièce de résistance is of course this enormous wall. I had each upperclassman write the title of their favorite book on a piece of colored paper (along with its call number – I had to make it educational) and then fold it into a paper airplane. They could make any plane they liked. In a very controlled manner, I let them throw their creations once. They were then picked up and I later had them attached to the wall.

The letters were made with Air Americana Font, printed out and traced onto some old road maps and atlases that were attached to the poster board. Cut, laminate, hang, repeat. Easy, cheap – albeit time-consuming.

These cute trunks were made by a PTA member. Clever and relatively easy! (Though I’m glad he made the effort and not me). There is enough to decorate all the shelves.
Travel posters! And they really are some of my proudest decorations. I was very interested in finding good vintage posters – both for real locations and fictitious ones.
For the actual locations, I sourced the posters from freevintageposters.com (it’s all in the name, my friends). I chose travel posters for Europe, New York, Australia, Africa, America (bows) as well as London, Japan and Brazil (but I can’t find my specific posters for those three anymore – still lots of other cool options though! ).
All three prints are stunning – quality pieces that have the perfect literary touch of a classic vintage travel poster. Just what I needed.
