You don’t have to break the bank to create a beautiful workspace; All you need is a few simple ideas to create a beautiful desk. Staying organized is an important element of maintaining an attractive workplace. Try to reduce clutter and opt for multi-purpose storage solutions. You can find a desktop layout and decorate it to match your child’s aesthetic. With plenty of storage, you can find everything you need inside.
I found a set of cardboard and photo frames here on Amazon, and then I used my Cricut to cut out some stickers and a mirror pattern. I used labels on the drawers to help my daughter organize them. The beautiful glass design added to the top of the arrangement matches its theme. Inside the organizer, it has plenty of room for favorite pens, pencils, markers, post-it notes, clips and more.
If you don’t have many desks, you can consider multiple desks for larger items like notebooks and files.

Electrical cords and loose wires everywhere are a common problem that can spoil the beauty of the desk. To keep wires out of the way, consider using cable ties or similar clips.
For my son’s homework desk, I wrapped some DIY wire with faux leather and velcro with my Cricut Maker. Then I marked clear pencil boxes to keep all the wrapping rope and goods in one place.
Whether it’s photos of your family or photos that inspire your child, hanging them on the wall next to their desk can add a personal touch to their workspace. Plants are the best way to add nature and life to your desk. And if you’re not a fan of real plants, opt for artificial plants that look pretty and don’t require maintenance – great for kids! Placing a small succulent or small cactus on a desk can do wonders to brighten up a workspace. You can also hang a small pot on the wall next to your desk, or place some small plants on a wall shelf. Plants not only add to the beauty of a workspace, but they are also proven to increase productivity and reduce stress.
Finally, to add depth and interest to your desk, add your own decorations. If your desk is too plain, it can look very empty and boring (especially if it’s a white desk like my daughter’s). You can stack some books or use a fun lamp to create height. Use a combination of vertical and horizontal directions for interest. Make sure you have plenty of space to work with, but you can still create a beautiful aesthetic through the subtle use of color.
Don’t forget to use the walls around the desk as part of your setup and height. Mount shelves on the wall for convenient storage, or add shelves for books and photos. In my daughter’s modern desk, I hung a small shelf on the wall for accessories and a hook for her ears.
