Photo Collage For Living Room – When it comes to art, I am sensitive to many aspects. I love that so many pieces in our home tell a story. I feel bad about posting pictures of special moments that our family spends, so I thought about how I can get the picture in perspective. That’s when the idea of a monthly DIY photo collection was born.

I understand, why not make a grid of 12 photos. Each frame will represent one month of the year and I will choose one photo per month to publish. I can post one photo per month.

So I wanted a frame that fit my style. I bought 12 of these with 8×10 size photos.

My mathematically minded husband measured the wall so he could make a grid so we knew where to hang each tree. It must take into account the electric plug and the light source so that we can have an equal distance in all parts of the frame. We opt for a 2 inch space.

Once we had the plan, he started using the nails to hang the picture frames upright. Why do I hang them straight, you ask? Most of the photos we take with our iPhones are vertical and I know I won’t remember to take a vertical photo every month.

Meanwhile, I started flipping through old photos on my phone. I didn’t think about it, I went back and selected the photo that was the highlight of the month. It could be a family photo from vacation, it could be a more distant photo of the kids running around the dock and pool.

Then it’s time to print them. I use the Walgreens photo app on my phone. They always have a coupon so be sure to take advantage of it! Once they are done, we can take pictures and add pictures to these frames.

Now, once a month, my kids remind me to check my phone and select a photo. They tend to speak to what I choose and end up being a fun way to look back and remember all the highlights of the month.

I have to wash the frames often because my children will play and walk along the wall and pause, enjoy and remember. It is a talking point for guests when they arrive and is one of our favorite art installations in our home.

When you update a photo, just remove the old photo and add it to the album. I hope that as the years go by, we will have a special photo of each year that represents our family life.

The first thing you need to do when creating a photo frame collage is to choose where you want to place it.

Although there are many ways to organize the layout of your photo gallery, a block wall is the best way to visualize the space. When you use masking tape, you can not only adjust and create a size that fits well, but it is also easy to remove.

Once your wall is installed and beautiful, use a tape measure to measure the size of each “frame”.

Make sure you know where each size fits. Use a pencil to write on painter’s tape for reference, or take a quick photo with your phone and make a digital marker.

Now that you have all the measurements you need, it’s time for the fun part: designing your frame!

You can also consider using a program like Photoshop or Canva to preview your gallery. Take a photo from your locked gallery and overlay a screenshot of the frame you’re designing to see how everything works.

To do this, you will need to measure the distance of the hanging wire (at the back of the frame) from the top of the frame.

Then, you will measure the same distance from the upper edge of the masking tape (with the corresponding center of each), make a small pencil mark in the middle, and dry the nail.

Stick the photo frame on the nail and repeat for all the photo frames until the photo gluing is finished!

Tip: Use a microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints or dust and keep your gallery clean and clear!

A note about art: You can create family photos, art prints you already own, or some freebies you’ve downloaded from our website! Either way, consider the art you’re working on and which frame will work best. If your iPhone images need a touch up, it might be worth considering some professional photo editing.
