Kitchen Cabinet Interior Design Ideas – Looking for kitchen cabinet storage ideas? I’m giving you a tour of our kitchen and sharing all the storage and organization ideas packed into mine!

I LOVE smart storage and organization systems. Besides having a bigger pantry, the kitchen we remodeled in our last house has the same amount of storage space as my old one, but I can fit more in my cabinets because of all the features in storage and organization.

Today I opened the cabinet doors and drawers so I could see all the kitchen cabinet storage ideas packed inside. Let’s launch the items with the cabinet function that I have many questions about… (

A pull-out trash can + built-in paper towel cabinet combo is one of my favorite kitchen cabinet storage solutions! First of all, I love that it fits into two trash cans so you can use one for regular trash and one for recycling. In my old kitchen, every time I wanted to recycle something I had to go into the garage to throw it in the recycling bin so this was a favorite change:

Kitchen Resources: Appliances  |  Pulled into the closet  |  Cabinet pulled |  Round braided tray | Marble and wood tool holders |  Gray Geometric Rug |  Floating Wooden Shelves  |   Flower Recipe Box  |  Wash |  Black and white towel

And the built-in paper towel over the trash is great if you’re someone like me who hates your paper towel lining your counters! I get a lot of questions about whether the paper towel compartment is separate from the trash compartment, so I thought I’d share this open view.

As you can see, there is a divider between the two so that the bottom of the paper towel roll never touches the top of my trash can:

The compartment that holds the paper towels retracts, so there’s room to store a few extra rolls of paper towels too! MasterBrand Cabinets also makes a similar trash can + paper towel holder with a full-length door that completely covers the paper towel compartment if you don’t want to see your paper towel rolled up. I feel like it’s a pain to put your paper towel holder behind a closed door, but I can definitely see using the entire door cabinet to have a convenient but hidden place to store extra rolls of paper and garbage bags.

And if you’re looking to add this pull-out double trash can to an existing lower cabinet, check it out. I added one to my sister’s kitchen and it was so simple to make (and she loved it!).

I also get a lot of questions about where my bins are – they actually come with my Masterbrand cabinet, but if you’re looking to buy them separately, I found them.

In my old kitchen, we had our silver in a drawer with one of those cheap plastic silver trays – it worked great, but left a lot of drawer space unused. Our silverware is now available in solid wood cutlery dividers – this is a smart silverware storage solution:

The top table is on a track so it slides back to reveal the second level of storage space below. I put all our everyday silverware in the top jar, and then less frequently used cutlery like steak knives in the bottom. I love that I have double the storage space I use in the same size drawer! If you’re looking for a two-tier cutlery tray like mine to add to an existing drawer, you can find my tiered organizer in multiple widths.

One of the biggest luxuries in my new kitchen is having a bigger pantry! Deep drawers with fixed shelves can sometimes be a pain because you can’t easily see the entire back, but pull-out shelves allow you to fully see everything inside:

Since the shelves take up so much space, I find it helpful to use pantry drawers to keep everything organized and in place. I have four on the top shelf, three on the second shelf, and two on + two on  for spices and oil on the third shelf.

You know how the inside of some cabinets can be a little dark? The base of my sink has a battery-operated light similar to the one mounted just inside the doors, so every time I open it, I feel movement and the light illuminates the entire interior:

As you can see, the space under my sink has a lot of not so nice things going on between the pipes, the apron sink brackets, and the hole cut in the bottom to access the peak heater, but i did. squeeze some organizers to use the space as efficiently as I can.

I have all my dishwasher tablets  and to the right of them I use to put my dishwashers on the bottom and sponges and towels on the top:

I LOVE this kitchen cabinet storage solution! I’ve had other corner cabinet solutions in our previous homes, including a lazy Susan in our first home and simple drawers on either side of the corner in our second home that didn’t use up all the corners that space. The solution that MasterBrand Cabinets provided for our kitchen is now my favorite!

Blind Corner Kitchen Cabinet Ideas

I have three corner drawers (one shallow and two deep) that extend fully so you can access the entire drawer. Very clever! In the top drawer I keep longer tools in the back and shorter tools near the front:

In the deeper bottom drawers I have some of my most frequently used spices, measuring cups, and a set of short tools:

It’s a night and day difference from the way my stuff was stored before, which was basically a deep, impossible-to-sort pile in a drawer that pissed me off (and my husband)!

My cookie sheets and cutting boards are stored on their ends in the base cabinet to the left of our range – they are held upright by a series of metal dividers secured to the base and back of the cabinet:

The dividers come individually, so I was able to customize the number of dividers and the space between them to suit my needs. And there’s a shallow shelf above them to make the most of every last bit of closet space!

You can do this on one of your cabinets by (1) getting chrome dividers similar to mine that you installed with brackets screwed to the bottom and back of the cabinet – this takes a little time, but the plus is that you can choose the distance between the dividers – you can find this type of divider  (2) for a super fast and easy storage solution, you can take one and drop it’s just in your closet! I had this exact thing in my old kitchen and it worked great!

We always have a place to charge phones and an iPad in our kitchen – it sits on top of the shallow cupboards next to our coffee station. In our new kitchen, I want to keep my countertops as clutter-free as possible, so we store electronics in a drawer under our Nespresso machine that has a built-in drawer outlet with USB port:

I love being able to keep the iPad in there because I use it for recipes while I cook. And if I want to keep more electronics in the drawer, I can just put a double USB plug in one of the outlets. I have a lot of outlets on my backsplash for small kitchen appliances, but it’s also a great place for a plug-in like a mixer!

I also use this drawer as my hidden coffee station with three to hold my Nespresso pods and a narrower bin that holds spoons.

You wouldn’t know it until you start peeking into the drawers and looking at the kick toe, but my kitchen island is an absolute workhorse – I don’t think there’s an inch of wasted space! You can’t tell by looking at it but the top drawers in my island are actually two drawers in one. When you open it up, there is a small rolled up tray drawer for extra storage.

I like to keep basic desk supplies in my kitchen because that’s where I fill up on school papers, paying bills, etc.

I organized the contents of the roll table with and. I chose dark gray to go with the color of my island, but they also do it in white and five other fun colors.
