I like to have art on two walls, with sconces to add much needed light. But if I did, we would have to walk on our shoulders and hands or risk running into jewelry every time we rode. Plus, we have two hallways to decorate so I have to be creative with my decor choices. I came up with these 4 ideas:

Well, I want to do some kind of architectural renovation in the basement. I still think we’ll do that once we’ve removed the carpet and cleaned the hardwood floors. For a while, I was 90% sold on stenciling to repeat the wallpaper, but due to the amount of time, I decided to switch tools and focus on the flooring for now. I need a simple job that can be a quick win for me! Trying to improve our home took a long time all summer, so I came up with a simple plan to get us back into DIY.
This weekend, I painted the wall with Foggy Day by Sherwin Williams. I also ordered prints from our annual photo shoot with Savannah Smith Photography, one of whom will be doing a little family time on the photo wall I’m attaching. I will share more photos from our anniversary shoot next week! We’re going to rip out the carpet and redo the original hardwood floors, just like we did in our master bedroom. The hand-tied runner is an old one that I picked up in college for all of $15. It’s one of my favorite things I own and I’m glad I made it worth it! And last but not least, I’m working with Sarah from True North Paper Company on a custom calligraphy piece that I’ve been dreaming of for a while. I can’t wait to see how it turns out! I’ll save the words for reveal day as a surprise but suffice it to say that it fits the mood of the romantic, fun gallery wall. This hallway design may seem personal to some people, but since it’s upstairs and Anthony and I are mostly watching, I don’t mind!

There is no doubt that hallway decor has a big impact on how it looks and feels but I won’t dwell on that here except to say that lighting is very important to how the hallway works. If it is not light and dark, it is difficult to work in the space, i.e. not having shoes, keys, tying laces, looking in the bag, etc. I would say the first thing you should do is light which is to get light. be evaluated. While you don’t want it to be harsh and too bright as it feels unwelcoming, you need balanced, even light from different sources – a pendant or two wall lights are good (make sure they rotate to don’t have them all at the same time as sometimes in the evening, for example, it is better to have only a small light to pass through the living room) or a table lamp if you have space for a table and no wires for wall lighting. Try to loosen the cloth as much as possible so that they do not become a large pile of hair that will cause a blockage and remove the leaves as you go. Also make sure that the leaves themselves are held by the clothes that make them easier to hang and won’t fall. Its height means clothes don’t pile up and the shelves above can be used to either store bits and bobs or display items to make the living room look and feel more welcoming. Don’t be afraid to hang the clothes on the radio because it can be very useful especially in winter when the clothes are dirty and dirty. Try Etsy for a similar rail shelf. You can go for a large shelf if it is bigger because it will not occupy the space but it can be a useful place to store things that are not used daily.
I find that baby beds are best adjusted so that they can handle them and because they are usually not too big they don’t get in the way of their cribs or feet. Even if they are at hip level.

Come into our house any day of the week and the hallway is full of shoes. It’s beyond difficult. Even the bare feet on the wall are annoying, if you ask me. Shoe storage boxes are really good for living room closets for every day shoes and slippers and they provide an easy way for keys, sunglasses, face masks and all the other parts that make up the space.
