He said he liked my background (pictured above you’ll see if you’re on the phone with me) and immediately exclaimed, “You should write a blog post about this! I’m sure I’m not the only one who should knowing how to do this!”

I like to have two or three points in an area this size (70″ wide). Here’s what I used:

Above that, I chose a large 36″ square abstract landscape. Objects always appear smaller in the background of a video, so if you’re in doubt about the size, go bigger than you think. !

For the second form, I am talking boldly about wallpaper! Now is the time to let your personality shine. Choose a wallpaper that is designed for you and professional, but still suits you. It can be a good conversation starter. This Morris & Co. inspired wallpaper. it fits perfectly with my modern beach style, but there are so many options available.

You can wallpaper the whole room or the wall behind the video line. If you’re a DIYer, go for peel and stick (that’s what it is). It’s easy to remove or replace if you choose to go a different route in the future.

Now, since the wallpaper is the star of the show, I chose to complement it with a simple wall of three framed pictures along with plug-in sconces to fill the rest of the wall space. It looks very similar to my home office you saw at the beginning of the post! You can read more about my battery scones here.

As for the size of the prints, it depends on how close your camera is to the wall and the overall size of the wall. For reference, my prints are 18″x24″, 16″x20″, and 12″x18″ and my table is about 8′ from the wall.

For the style shelves, I chose one or two items for each shelf. You don’t want it to look messy, but you do want it to look full on purpose. Mix and match heights and shapes and stay within a simple color palette. I stuck with a lot of neutrals here and added blues and greens with greenery, art and books.

If you want to use this as inspiration, I suggest copying the number and scale of the items, but make your own pieces. For example, to the left of the bookcase, from top to bottom, there is a bowl, a pair of pictures + decorative items and books with books.

I hope this inspires you to design those walls for your zoom phones! If you have questions or want specific advice, leave them in the comments!
