Now that we’ve covered the basics, it’s time to dive into the details! Creating attractive yearbook page design is easier than you think. Follow these tips to make your yearbook the best it can be.

The title has one main purpose: to tell the reader what the page is about. Your title should catch the reader’s eye. A good headline is short and descriptive. Make sure it is legible and in a large font that attracts your reader.

Supplement your main topic with subheadings throughout your copy. These are the best ways to break down your content. They also help highlight more of what your page is about. Your headlines can be a great way to grab your readers’ attention. Try using drop shadows or other effects on your headers to really make your page stand out!

One of the most common design options is to use student artwork.  Many schools will propose a theme for their cover and organize a student art competition.  Drawings are judged and the winner or winners are featured on the cover as a design.

1. Fill the image to the edge: This means that the drawn image fills one side that is covered (front or back, depending on the layout).  To do this, you will need to zoom the image to the outer edge of the yellow border, but note that there is no significant drawing outside the green “safe zone” border.  Anything beyond this green border risks being cut off.

2. Frame the image (optional): We recommend placing the entire image within a “safe area” with a green border and adding a solid color background behind the image.  This will give the drawing a “sculpture” and embellish the cover with additional color.  This is the most convenient design option, because it allows you to maintain the integrity of the entire image without the risk of cutting off.

Using this method also gives you the option of adding more than one graphic to both sides of the cover.  For example, many schools will use the winning artwork on the front cover and the winning artwork on the back cover.
