I am Warong Naiwinit. I live in Ubon Ratchathani, the farthest eastern province of Thailand. I work at Ubonratchathani State University where I teach landscape design and systems analysis and design for 20 years. Consequently, my expertise lies in landscape design and human environment modeling.
A landscape architect is simply a person who is professionally engaged in analyzing and designing to harmonize the interaction of people and the environment in a pleasant way.
If you were to teach, what would you teach your students about design and architecture? What is it about design that is important to you to communicate to your students?
In my opinion, it is very important to teach students to become outstanding landscape designers with a greater ability to create based on analytical information. A synthetic and holistic approach to design is often difficult to convey to students. Therefore, we usually offer our students a project-based learning experience, and as a common solution in all design disciplines, we draw many blueprints to understand the possibilities and limitations of our site and our concept. in design. These drawings play an important role in communication between us and between students and their clients.

What does your creative process look like? How did you approach the development of the project? How much is determined by your imagination versus the client’s needs?
My creative process is like dating a cute girl. Without analysis, I began to imagine what it was like according to my first impression. It’s really my imagination. Regarding the design process, when I was offered an interesting design project, I began to identify the site and the stakeholders from as many dimensions as possible. In many cases, I start painting future pictures of what the site will look like based on my experience and preferences. These drawings are constantly changing after completing the site analysis and determining the customer’s needs, but they remind me of the first impressions I had of the site.
What tools do you like to use to design? How did you learn and how did it help your workflow?
The tools I use to develop are both traditional and digital, but the development of digital tools is amazing. While digital tools have yet to replace conventional art, they are getting close, with more flexible features and portability. As a result, I prefer to use digital tools for my designs.

This is one of my favorite tools. I learned this when I bought my iPad Pro (almost a year and a half ago) and watched a demonstration at the iPad Pro showcase. I decided to buy this app from the app store when my iPad Pro was ready to use. good (and better) for conceptualizing the design once I flesh out my ideas based on information from site analysis and user requirements. Therefore, I always use to create my concept plan when more accurate tools and predefined templates are needed.
In general, I use the overall landscape design process in my work. This includes site survey and inventory, user requirements and site analysis, literature review, conceptualization, design review, and master plan and design development, including schematic plans. The details of each project are of course different.
To simply explain my design process, I would say that I have three critical states instead. They are
When developing a conceptual plan (conceptualization) it is my main tool, but the software is sometimes not able to manage my entire project, which is usually large and uses a lot of hardware and software resources. Thanks to the team’s suggestion, I divided my concept plan and made it into categories, e.g. existing vegetation, proposed vegetation, buildings, water bodies.

Each one is exported to a PNG file with the same marks so I can align them for scale, position and rotation when they are put together to make the final product. This approach almost overcomes the limitation of computing power, but it requires systematic planning.

The human elements of a science park are buildings, entrances, paths, boundaries, and a reservoir. Again, the corners line up with the original plan.
