Banner Design Ideas Drawing – A well-placed banner will take your design up a notch! They are amazing and with a little practice you can create fun designs with them.

So I’m going to show you the basics in 3 different ways, and there’s a worksheet at the end that you can download for FREE and print out to try it yourself.

1. Draw a straight line – or as straight as possible – followed by another parallel line underneath.

4. Now draw different lines just below the square. As you can see above, the square and the new lines are the same thickness.

5. Now place a point between your new parallel lines, in a small area (don’t mix the ends). The stitches will make your V cuts in the tail of the ribbon.

6. You can now create V-cut tails by drawing lines from each point to the center point.

8. Finally, draw a diagonal line from the corner of the front panel to the inside corner of the tail. This creates a folded view.

3. Add a curled ponytail on the opposite side to elongate the part. This will create an impression on your tape.

4. Next, draw a line on each side of the tail you just drew. This is the other side of your folded “ribbon”, so you don’t want it to be chunky or thin compared to the main strip. They should be close to the same thickness.

5. Now put a dot in the middle of these two lines. As with the right banner, you will want to leave a little towards the inside as you are using stitches to make your v-cuts.

6. Now draw lines from each corner to the point to maintain your V cut. The point helps you find your center so your V doesn’t get moved.

7. You’re not finished! Finish your ribbon flag by drawing a straight line from the tail of the S to the main square. This is important because it completes that folded look. You can now cover it or draw a few lines to finish it.

1. Don’t Hate Me – I love the double flag, but I made this name up. I have no idea what they are called. Start with two parallel wavy lines.

3. Join your bottom piece by drawing a line from the bottom corner to the top corner, then joining the two tiers diagonally.

4. Finish the top part by drawing a line from the top corner to the bottom corner

5. Now finish the ends. You can make the same V-cut as the first two flags we learned, either straight or curved, as seen here. Put your own touch on it!
