I will also show you how I use them to create my notebook and share some simple ideas to stimulate your imagination. So let’s get started!

In this section, I will share with you some simple techniques that you can use to create your own border design. It is very simple and easy for anyone to follow.

Borders and dividers in their simplest form are just lines. Different types of lines from straight, broken and dotted to wavy, looped and zigzag can be used as borders and dividers.

These lines are perfect for minimalist flats and last minute arrangements. You can also use them in your study notes.

Motifs are small decorative images that are repeated in designs and patterns. They can be as simple or elegant as you like.

I have shown all the details above using the heart and star models you can see here.

I chose some of the little flower pictures from the spread to make these dividers and I think they go well with the spring and flower themes.

You can create doodle pages like this in your journal for future reference. You can revisit the following pages if you need ideas and inspiration to create new spreads.

This method is similar to the previous method, only simpler. If you’re looking to do something minimal and a little doodley, then this is the way to go.

Such separators are easy and fast. All you have to do is draw one of the different lines shown before and then add some features to it at the corners or in the middle.

I like to use dividers like this to add some interest to my small space and this one.

These are just a few examples, but you can literally create hundreds of border designs by connecting dots to your journal. How’s that?! Connect dots to create geometric objects such as lines, angles, rectangles, triangles, and then repeat them in a regular pattern or on the same line.

Geometric borders look great and only take seconds to create. Holding these items is very comfortable. Use them to add some flair to your minimalist design.

Now, of course, all of these methods are not the way you can draw the boundaries in your short notebook, but it is the easiest to start, especially if you are a beginner.

Since I want my journal to be very spread out and have a good design, I like to use doodle borders to decorate and organize the designs. Let me show you one of my spreadsheets that I made using doodle borders.

Perhaps the most common use of doodle borders in a bullet journal is to decorate the pages of spreadsheets or to use them as dividers to organize the content of your design.

I spread this out by drawing a bold border around the page using the weather patterns and then using dotted line separators to separate the days of the week.

You can try to create a similar design in your magazine by drawing borders with features that match your theme.

For this very simple spread, I drew 6 sections, 3 on each side, to divide the spread into 8 equal sections. Layered pieces, add yellow for a little pop all over. I made this spread in less than 5 minutes.

A fun thing to try with doodle border designs is to create dividers, frames, and wreaths. You may find this idea useful if you like to keep monthly themes in your journal.

I used this simple idea to decorate my little monthly spread and I am very happy with the result. I made a small flower wreath for the head and border on the next page.

Sometimes I like to add a little texture to my bullet journal using geometric borders – a monthly theme idea for you if you’re into this type of design. Here are two examples.

Page Border Ideas

In addition to journaling, you can use doodle borders to decorate your notebooks, photo journals, journals, notes, making bookmarks, greeting cards, and other projects.

Here is a picture of a fall bookmark I made. I decorated it with a border with different shapes and colors.

I drew this pattern by making vertical flower borders for coloring – a fun activity for you to try when you’re feeling tired or stressed. Drawing and coloring scenes have been found to be relaxing and relieve stress. You can use this idea to decorate and fill the blank pages in your bullet journal.

Hi friends, Adrienne from Studio 80 Design here today to share a fun project! I love creating simple and beautiful borders in my Archer and Olive Dot Grid notebooks – this grid makes it easy to draw a nice and consistent border! Each border starts with a rectangular base drawn on the page with a Tombow MONO 05 Drawing Pen and ruler. So, I will show you how to decorate and combine it to create three different and beautiful borders! Let’s get started!

For the first border, I used the MONO Drawing Pen 03 and drew a curved line around the neck border on the side. This is a vine. Then draw the leaves around the vine to fill the border!

The next border is more geometric! Starting with the neck border, use your ruler and the MONO Drawing 05 pencil to draw another border on top. Extend the outer lines in four all the way around, except for the corners to turn in the middle. Then draw some decorations in each corner and add dots around the outer border!

For the final border I’ll add some flowers! With the MONO 03 drawing pen, draw flowers and leaves from the rectangle to the edge of the page around the border. Change the flowers and leaves to something different. Then go back with the MONO 01 drawing pencil to add small details to the flowers and leaves.

Thank you very much for your visit! I hope you test these fun borders in your Archer and Olive book! Be sure to follow me @studio80design for more inspiration like this!
