Name Design Ideas Art – Guess what as we transition into distance learning in Spring 2020, the quarter has changed! This meant that the 100 children I taught every day for 12 weeks moved on to the next exploration room, (health, ) and a new team of 95 students started making art… long distance! Teaching art remotely is hard enough, but it’s especially hard to build relationships with students I’ve never met. This lesson was a cool and personal way for me to introduce them to something really personal: their names! When our district voted to begin the 2020-2021 school year completely, I knew the lesson. This will be the winner again. Students are not disappointed!

We also watched some videos about street artists like Banksy and the evolution of graffiti and its rise beyond the label of ‘vandalism’.

My head is spinning trying to find distance learning art lessons that can also be used in face-to-face art classes. My school district now has three open plans, which means my brain is trying to plan and make sense of three different scenarios…so enter my new BFF colored pencils!

Graffiti Name Art Project For Kids

Students can write their initials, full names, words or phrases that are important to them. Simple bubbles or block letters work, but this colored pencil name design would be a great solution for a discussion about graffiti. My students always respond to Banksy’s pictures and discussion questions “Is graffiti art?” It always makes my students think.

It may be the cover of a sketchbook or portfolio design, and I know that students feel successful even if they use very simple fonts.

My Advanced Placement Art students, 11th and 12th graders taking AP classes, began the year with observational drawing. We focus on figure drawing using hands, faces and a variety of still life materials. While the students try to find their inquiry. My Art II students (10th-12th graders) create observational drawings using their hands as our inspiration. After practicing several contour drawings, the students began to create a composition of poses that they you like I can’t believe we were back in class long enough to finish. Picture these brown zentangs. This is to return to my classroom to get to know the students while the eyes Change schedule. We use them as a cover for a sketchbook, but it makes a great sub-lesson like The same! Summer is melting and I’m trying to enjoy every moment. This is the easiest pen and watercolor doodle using @blickartmaterials. Add artistic lines with the @sakuramicron pen when the paint is dry, or keep it simple. It makes a delightful sketchbook, holiday decoration, or handmade birthday card. My sister and I have a painting at @paseogalleryone in Oklahoma City this month. Enjoyed sharing space with @artistamachado, especially since he lives and works in South Carolina. He creates beautiful watercolor landscapes that delve into the experience of chronic illness. One of our recent works is the linocart. I love watching my students cut their pictures after a day of carving and Design planning.

Add optional capitalization after all names. This will give you a place to put the contrasting colored pencils.

No Hairlines – When teaching pencil techniques, we often tell students not to have hairlines and paint in one direction.

Once the inner shape is complete, students can use contrasting color families to create and color the shape. The goal is the opposite so that their name stands out.

For this particular name design, we like the contrast of the black and white design with colored pencils.

As a former art teacher, artist, and mom, Erin knows the importance of expressing your creativity. Even children can enjoy the painting process with their families. As always, the school year flies by! It’s fun to share ideas with other art education enthusiasts and think about what works and doesn’t work with each project I post. I really feel that it has made me a better educator. I think about each aspect of the project as I write about it and see if I can make it better for my students…and try to create interesting and unique content in the process.

Custom Last Name Art Work

So I ask students to create their names (or names) or words (or short sentences) into overlapping, interesting elements. For older children to use more different letter patterns, younger children are shown how to draw a letter with a line and then draw around it to create a block letter pattern as their writing. Both groups were asked to combine a crazy number of patterns and colors so that these letters design have more popularity and power. They are asked to fill the page with letters and patterns. We use 12×18 paper and colored pencils to complete the work.

This project has been successful at both age levels. This is a great way to help them observe the world of letters around them and improve their skills at the same time. It is also one of those “everyone’s success” programs that are pretty good every time.
