Wrapping Paper Ideas For Christmas

Do you want to be different and not follow the crowd? Then these vintage Christmas gift ideas might be right for you. I love yard sales, flea markets and thrift stores when I have time. Over the years I have amassed quite a collection of vintage Christmas ornaments and knick-knacks. Combining them with the new gives a special beauty that the new element alone cannot achieve.

26 Unique Gift Wrap Ideas For Christmas

Most of the Christmas wrapping paper decorations I’ve collected have been found in bags. Some of the original plastic bags from 5 & 10 cent stores like Kresges back in the day. It’s funny to see the price of these bags, unlike today. If you are considering using wrapping paper, do some research. Bonus…they’re easy to store and fun to collect! I will include SHOP THE LOOK at the end of this post.

Of course, these gifts are small, and you know what they say about “good things come in small packages”. One of my favorite yard sale items is a small vintage gift box. If you are lucky enough to find some of them, you don’t need to wrap them. Just add some pretty decorations and you should be good to go, as long as you let the box design shine (like the light blue box below).

I have a FREE Christmas Scrapbook that you can download and print. It features the three beautiful marble letters above, as well as these flowers and more! Check them out on THIS PAGE and then you can download from there to save. You can print the paper at home at paper size and use it in small packages or take it to a place like Walgreens on a flash drive and print as large as you can! All are in high resolution and for your personal use.

If you’re like me, you’re thinking “who has time to get creative with gift wrapping”? I know I’ve struggled to find the time and energy for this business, but I blew it all one night watching a Christmas movie. It’s a little tradition that I enjoy every year. Have you seen “White Christmas”? If you haven’t I highly recommend checking it out, it’s one of my favorites!

Anyway, the theme of the wrapping paper is Champagne Gold and White with Natural Linen and Green Lace. Of course, my wrapping choices have to do with Christmas decorations that are rustic chic. I wanted to find a way to keep it light and neutral, but still have some sparkle. I love this champagne gold, almost like a rose gold. But let me tell you, it wasn’t easy to find. Most Christmas gift wrapping is red, green, silver or gold so it’s a challenge. But overall I’m happy with how they turned out and I thought I’d share how to create your own gift wrap this year! And the best part is that it doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming.

Red Wrapping Paper

All wrapping paper and ribbon are from this year’s home goods. I love the simplicity of kraft packaging and wanted to find a way to combine it with something more elegant, not rustic.

This champagne gold natural linen cord is my inspiration. I always try to find wire ties for my bows so you can easily organize them. This year I tried making my own bows and thought they didn’t turn out too bad!

White paper with rosewood is one of my favorite things. I love the contrast between the colored paper and the linen bow. For the kraft cover I found white and gold wire which made it easy.

All gifts need a name tag, but you’ll probably notice that most of mine don’t list where they came from. My husband grew up with a tradition where they would identify who the gift was from along with describing what the gift was. It’s a nice tradition, but I’m terrible at riddles and can never figure them out!

For my third #SwiftHomeHacks post, I’m going to give you some ideas to make your holiday package dreamy this Christmas without breaking the bank.  Part of the fun for me on the big day is giving people a gift that they’ve wrapped with care and love – plus it’s really pretty under the tree!

I’m a big fan of brown paper rolls.  Think of it as a blank canvas, which you can create, whether in rustic simplicity, or by filling it with bright and shiny colors.  I used to use stamps to decorate my cards, but this year I got hold of a crayon to make simple botanical designs of olive branches and wreaths.  Make your outline in pencil first if you like, before writing over the top with a crayon.  I decorated my quilt with berries, small pine cones and hydrangea leaves from my garden.  I even added glitter to my hydrangea leaves to make them truly magical.  (Use some PVA glue!)

If natural rustic isn’t your thing, how about decorating your gift with vintage brooches or costume jewelry for extra sparkle.  Charity shops always have loads of costume jewellery, so take a look and you might just find the perfect decoration for gift wrapping.  Make beautiful tags to wrap your presents with lace and ribbon, or stamp the recipient’s name for a personal touch Just in time for Christmas, I’m sharing 6 easy DIY Christmas gift ideas. Everything you use at home, or readily available. My secret is to use cheap brown paper and decorate each gift with spices, herbs, candy, ribbon and more.
