First I started making shoes. Honestly, because this is the part I’m most excited about. I decided to designate the entire area of my shoes; It means that a woman can never have too many shoes.

It was very exciting to watch the shoe being made, and when I started making it I was very happy. If you want more details on how I made this shoe build, be sure to check out Part 1 – The Shoe Build.

Now even though I always had built-in paint programs, they naturally look good. I was almost tempted to leave it as is, but in the end I realized that I would be much happier once it was painted.

Now, the wardrobe part of the walk-in closet system is a beast. It took a lot of work to get it done, and since I was working alone, I felt fresh after it.

One of the things that helped the most was to map out the design first with tape! Even if I changed the design along the way, I would think everything is game changing with this build.

Although it was a lot of work, seeing this wardrobe come together was exciting and satisfying. Knowing that I built it with my own two hands makes it even more special!

Many people ask why I don’t use the IKEA Pax wardrobe system, but I want to build my own custom wardrobe, it’s very cheap and I know that the wood I use is better than pre-made cabinets.

The most satisfying thing is to finish all the cabinet making. I’m not going to lie, I was really out of gas at this point but I knew I was almost done. Now with everything built it was time to paint my DIY master walk in closet; the closet organizer of my dreams.

But before I start painting, I need to prepare everything. I went through and filled all the nail holes and pocket holes with wood filler and sealed all the nooks and crannies for a clean look, including the clocks. Once everything was dry, I went back and sanded everything down, first with 80-grit sandpaper and then again with 120 and 220 grit. Sanding is tedious and messy but the better prepared you are, the better your end result will be.

When everything was ready, I used my Graco X7 to spray paint the interior. There is no way I would not use a pint sprayer for a project like this. Although the preparation takes time, the clean finish is worth it.

Whenever I use a spray paint, I use Behr Premium Plus because there is no need to dilute it. I just dip the tube in the bucket and go. For this particular project, I decided to go with Behr-Spanish Sand because I wanted to stay in the family of whites but wanted a warm tone.

The overspray is not as bad after adjusting the spray pressure. I just make sure to cover the floor and surrounding areas to prevent anything from getting sprayed. Make sure you have a proper respirator and goggles when spraying for safety.

The Ultimate Guide To Walk-in Closet Dimensions

After I finished painting and let the paint dry, I quickly started putting my clothes in the closet because I couldn’t contain my excitement. I use these socket rods to hang my clothes. It’s very easy to install.

I’m not done yet! HA! Is there anyone else out there? Next is to add good hardware.

When I first saw these gold pulls, I was totally in love with them and they elevate the wardrobe.

However, the time has come; for now you are all waiting for the final revelation. Well, here we are!

How To Build And Install A Diy Master Closet

There are no words to describe how happy I am to have finally finished this monster of a project. It took a lot of work, but I have to say it was well worth it! The drawer pulls give it a luxurious look.

During the build process, I had a few people say they couldn’t figure out how to make the corners work, but I think I knocked it out of the park. This closet organizer is the perfect place to hang all my favorite clothes. I wanted to make sure I used every single area and it turned out better than I could have imagined, now I have two areas in the designated corners of my long dresses.

Let’s talk about the construction of this shoe though; This thing is a work of art and I’m so excited to finally get my shoes out of the guest room and into a designated area and of course I can’t forget my hat collection. I thought, why not use the empty space above and make room for them too.

Even better, I have room for all the socks and other miscellaneous items underneath and everything is tucked away.

I knew I wanted the center to be the focal point, so I added a few fun things to make the center catch your eye. The first thing I added is this decorative wallpaper for the background. I saw it online and knew right away that it was the one. It’s leather and sticky, so it’s easy to put on.

I also added this round mirror on one side for my personal preference and a fun piece of wall art on the other side.

But I have to say, the ironing board drawer took the cake. I absolutely love this part of my newly created closet.

And that wraps it up folks, I hope you love my closet as much as I do and I can’t wait for you to follow me on the next project!! Thanks for reading guys, XOXO Ashley AHHHHHH! I am so excited to finally share my first bedroom reveal in the new house!!!! Naturally, we started in my master bedroom. This room is easy to finish, especially because of its size and the lack of real furniture! Planning the layout, however, takes a little time.

I pulled photo after photo of some of my favorite cabinets on Pinterest for inspiration and gave them all to my builder, who did two separate drawings for me. I knew I wanted a window (it’s all about natural light) and a bench with shoe racks, but other than that I wasn’t sure what I needed in terms of space.

My mom being the smart cookie she is, advised me to measure my closet space at that time

Knowing how much space I need for certain things. I measured how long my bags and shoes were, and measured the length and width of the space my clothes took up in the old closet. After a lot of planning and sketching, we finally came up with what it looks like! When things started to build, we were able to fix it, but what you see now is what it was when we started the construction process. After living in it for almost half a year, I have to say that one thing I wish it had a little more is a higher hanging space. I have a lot of clothes, and unfortunately I can’t fit my fall/winter and spring/summer clothes + my favorite light trenches on a long hanger all at the same time. Luckily I have two closets in the guest room that I use for storing winter coats and storing those seasonal clothes – I’ll have to get rid of them when the weather returns!

Do I have more? Storage of shoes and bags. I really love all the different cubbies and shelves to display my favorite pieces, and the fact that each wardrobe section is long enough to store extra flats, sneakers and sandals underneath… for a whole lot of storage for hats, bags, shoes and accessories! I get a lot of questions about my seat/shoe space under my window – that’s the piece I asked the carpenter to do when they built the shelves too
