Design Ideas Butterfly – If you’re new here, you probably don’t know that I do a live art session on Facebook every week? If you haven’t checked it out, you might want to do so here (and maybe “like” my page while you’re there? – I really appreciate it Aaaanway! wanna see?” And one of the girls a craft rainbow suggested.

I loved that font! Because we could ALL do with some color in our lives right now! And who doesn’t love a beautiful butterfly? (Well.. to be honest, my daughter gets annoyed by them, but that’s a different story! 😉

There aren’t many progress photos as I make this rainbow art on Live. But I hope that speaks for itself! I bought these colorful butterflies at an auction on Amazon. But even at full price, there are 72 in the pack, so you get loads for your money! They have little magnets, but I used a hot glue gun to snap them on. And I had enough left over to make this butterfly crown craft too!

Next, I used this ‘Break the Sun’ frame from The Range which was on sale for £2.99. As it looked so cute but it was the perfect size for this particular rainbow dress. I had a little play with the bubbles to see what design would look good. I made a variety of large and small ones and placed them randomly on the frame. Just to get an idea of how I wanted to glue them.

I put them on our fridge to “keep them safe” with their little magnets before my Live. How colorful do they look?? I still have loads left so I may have to create another look, just for our fridge 🙂

I wanted to hide the text on the picture. Nothing complicated guys! – I gave him two coats of white acrylic paint to cover the lemon and the text.

And then the rest was done in Live – I glued the butterfly on to create this lovely colorful scene.

If the frame was a little bigger, I would have tried to add a small jar to the bottom and have the butterflies “fly” out of the jar. But, I didn’t want to exaggerate things.

And of course this would also work great with a butterfly punch in various sizes and some colored paper. You can keep the (adult) kids busy and have them join in the coloring.

I found the perfect place to hang the picture, but since I changed it from landscape to portrait, the existing fixtures no longer worked! So I quickly increased myself. With some garden and wooden fence. I hot glued it to the back, attached it with a popsicle stick – like this:

In today’s post: Kids (and adults) can make butterfly art that’s fun enough to use using this simple tissue paper transfer technique.

I have already said that I am not much of an artist. When I was a kid we played a lot of Pictionary and it always ended in tears (mine) because no one knew what I was trying to draw. So when I find a simple craft technique that turns out pretty, I use it time and time again! Paper transfer is one of my easy craft techniques, especially for young children.

The concept is very simple: you wet your face, then place pieces of paper that bleed on the face. Douse the paper towel with more water, and the color from the paper bleeds onto the surface, creating a beautiful combination of colors.
