Making Cards In Cricut Design Space
Of all the questions and concerns I get from readers, most of them revolve around being overwhelmed or frustrated with their machine, design space software, or whatever is in front of them. While Cricut machines and software are powerful tools for artists of all skill levels, there can be a learning curve that allows them to be used quickly and intuitively…so I understand that first danger. Fortunately, Cricut makes it easy to create amazing projects
, even if you don’t know how to open it at first… it’s best to use… Cricut Design Space. I do! The Cricut Design Space Library has hundreds of ready-made projects that are available to you right now, from shirts and labels to sewing projects, cards, embellishments and more. Not only are these projects super easy to make (you’ll want to do it all yourself!), but they’re also a great way to build your confidence as you learn your way around your cricket. Today, I want to show you how to use ready-made projects in Cricut Design Space and my own spring t-shirt designs that are now available and ready to make!
Ready-to-make projects are exactly what they sound like: projects that are already designed and ready to cut with no modification required. You don’t need to know anything about the different tools and techniques in Cricut Design Space to use these designs…you just pick one you like, open it, and send it to your machine.
(You can also edit these projects as your own designs, and I’ll show you how in a minute.)
Create Your Own Designs In Design Space
When you first open Cricut Design Space, you’ll automatically see a list of ready-to-do projects at the bottom of your screen. You can find a large collection of projects at any time by clicking the “Projects” button on the left toolbar.
You can also search by search or category using the ready-to-make project menu above the toolbar. There are countless patterns available, and I’m always browsing the areas to get my creative juices flowing or to gather ideas for my own projects! As long as you’re signed in, you can enjoy any design you want, so it’s quick and easy to access later by clicking “My Ready-to-Make Projects” in the drop-down menu.
One of the most popular things artists do with their Cricut machines is make custom t-shirts, onesies, and other apparel, so it won’t surprise you to learn that the ready-to-make project library has tons of pre-pres. – Made clothes. pattern. From sassy details to timeless designs, new designs are added to the gallery every week!
You believe I was so excited when Cricket asked me to design some spring themed t-shirts to add to the Ready Projects library this month! I love, love, love playing with all the designs and fonts in the Design Space library and had a blast with 5 new designs, ready to build your very own spring wardrobe!
Cricut Basics: How To Upload Images In Design Space (and Make Your Own Literary Geek T-shirt) Tutorial
The theme of these shirts is “Spring is in the Air,” and each of the 5 designs features bright colors, cheerful patterns, and spring-themed images. Here’s a great way to wear shirts and offs to help welcome the warmer weather and longer days! That wild one shirt is my favorite and I wish it was made in my size!

As I said, one of the best things about a ready-to-do project is that it can’t be easier, it’s good if you want to see how to install a project from scratch – everything. As with any design you create to fit your personal style and interests, you can customize any ready-to-make project and I’ll show you how to open, stack, and cut.
Once you’ve found a ready-to-make project you want to try out in the Design Space library, click the image. A pop-up window will open explaining all kinds of useful information. Not only does it list all the supplies you’ll need to make the project as shown, it also provides step-by-step instructions that you can print out and keep with you.
How To Upload Handprints To Cricut Design Space
Notice that there are two buttons at the bottom of that pop-up window: the “Customize” button and the green “Make It” button. If you select the “Make It” button, you will automatically be sent to the cutting screen in the design space. All elements of the design will be sized and colored as shown in the included image, and all you have to do is click the green “Continue” button to start cutting the pattern. It is important to note that at this stage (on the cutting screen), you cannot edit the size, color or any other detail of the design. So if you want to make a ready-to-make design then you should use this option
Note! Remember, if you are working with metal fittings, the cutting mats must be mirror-lock clicked; It won’t do it for you automatically! For more tips on working with iron, see my full tutorial here!
However, if you select the “Customize” button, the pre-made design will be loaded into a design space canvas. Once done, you can edit any part of the design as you would your own projects. You can resize, delete elements, move text, or replace text and images if you want! This way, these pre-made designs can be a great springboard for your own unique creations! Once you are satisfied with your specifications/specifications, click on the green “It It” button to send the design for cutting.
