Design Contest Ideas – The contest was a huge success. We have many entries with very creative designs. Library staff judges selected two designs from each category, eight designs in total. Winning bookmarks will be printed and distributed to library patrons via a curbside pickup service.

Derived from the word Panorama, PANO was designed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, helping people bring the joy of cinema home. Inspired by the sleek silhouette of an SUV, the PANO exudes style and minimalism. Its name, derived from “panorama”, subtly alludes to the emotional connection of camping in nature with a beloved friend. This beam projector concept seamlessly combines a clean box-shaped design with a sleek interface, featuring only the essential buttons and controls. The front reveals the lens on one side, while the fabric panel elegantly hides the speaker.
While it’s common practice to take a break from the chaos of city life and escape to Mother Nature for a while, it’s hard to give up some city comforts… food, for example. Yuanye is an innovative outdoor barbecue that combines a gas tank, a grill tray with partitions for meat and vegetables, a fire source and an oil storage module. Its outstanding feature is its extraordinary folding structure, which allows maximum portability and comfort. Inspired by fashion suitcases, Yuanye’s design not only prioritizes functionality but also displays individuality and good aesthetics.

Here is an example of a very clever idea, no wonder it got the votes of the public as it did. If you have seen enough spy movies, you will have seen the action where the protagonist dusts off the keyboard for fingerprints in order to know exactly which key to press to unlock the vault. Wipelock cleverly avoids this problem by simply attaching a small sponge to the handle. After you enter the password and turn the handle, it effectively removes fingerprints from the keyboard, keeping it looking like new. Simple, effective and pure genius!
Another example of a compact way to bring the luxury of our city into a quiet natural space, the Cassette Cooker (contrary to its name) is a compact portable stove that uses a plug-in “gas cassette”. to give the furnace fuel to run. This particular Mr. Treasure design comes with a stacked design that includes a lifting grill that lifts the stove off the ground so you can plug in the gas cassette. Once ready for use, the stove can be combined with an existing container or even a cassette stove. The casserole itself (not pictured above) is stacked neatly into the cooker’s cylindrical form factor, giving it a homogeneous appearance.
Although it may remind you of Beats by Dre’s Pill speakers, the Ocelli is actually twice as good… Why, you ask? Because it gives you two speakers instead of one! Designed to separate from its central axis, Ocelli has individual left and right speakers that can be used together or separately and placed in different parts of the house for multi-room listening or for further stereo expansion. The design comes from Shantanu Maheshwari, who simply wanted to create a speaker that was more adaptable to his needs. The middle part of the Ocelli is a magnetic charging center for the two speakers and even has a touchscreen interface to control playback. Individual speakers, on the other hand, are compact enough to take anywhere…even in a backpack!
The Cockcrow breakfast machine reminded me of a certain Michael Scott who wanted to wake up to the smell of cooked bacon. While Scott relies (rather stupidly) on the George Foreman Grill, the Cockcrow breakfast machine is more up to the job. Designed to run on electricity (so that there is less possibility of fire), the device has two burners that allow students to easily prepare breakfast soup, sandwiches, omelettes, bacon or whatever young people will need to fuel the day at university.
