Longboards For Girls (and People With Small Feet)
I won’t go into the details and details, but there are a lot of great resources on the web! Do your research to find wheel sizes, durometers that suit your riding style.
I like it. What does your dashboard look like? The world is your oyster. Search Pinterest for inspiration, ride some boards and find out which posts best suit your riding style. This is a great guide. If you have already thought about it, take a piece of paper and start drawing the shape you like. If you want to improve your writing skills, I will link to my tutorial here. Once you’re set up, you can transfer your measurement information onto a large piece of paper (preferably pattern paper or something with patterns) or directly onto your wooden sheet.
You will determine the flexibility of your table. Length and thickness are your two variables. The longer the more flexible, the shorter the government. My board was designed to be 38″ long and varied in width from 7″ to 9″. Three panels were perfectly sized for my weight.
First, cut the board to the desired length, stack the blocks on top of some blocks that have cars on them, and stand them carefully. Give it a bounce. Then add or remove a section as needed.
Custom 8.25 Inch Skateboard Deck
To give the board the thickness, bend and flexibility required, we will stack some birch plywood sheets. To do this, cut the board into as many rectangular sheets as you need, larger than the finished width of your board. I cut it on a table saw, but you can also use a circular saw, hand saw, jigsaw, or anything that actually cuts. For my board, I cut three panels with more than 1 inch on each side. Always leave the best to cut and cool later!
Once you have your panels, the glue and adhesive will lock in the desired curvature. The curved sign I added to my board was a little complicated, so here’s a link that explains the layout and installation in more detail. You can also choose to leave it completely flat and skip adding a full curve.
Carefully select the outer parts of the boards. Find the sheet with your favorite wood and put it out of your pile. The table will appear in the margin (unless you choose to paint it).
Add a full coat of wood glue between each sheet, then glue the boards evenly to the desired curve and allow to dry. Act fast and get your glue ready because the glue hardens quickly! Having a second pair of hands can help.

We then cut the board close to its final shape. If you draw the profile to measure on the paper, cut it out and place it on the wood. When cutting, leave more wood (about 0.5 cm or less) because it is difficult to cut straight. You don’t want to mess this up – we’re close! If you can find a fan, use it. Otherwise, use a jigsaw. If not, grab a trusty old hand saw and put some blood and sweat into your hard work (just kidding, please be careful).
Now you can carefully remove most of the wood and carve it down to your final shape. Be careful with belt sanders as they will remove shocks quickly. First sand with a low fineness of about 60-100. This removes a lot of material quickly. Once you have the final shape, get out the 120 grit sandpaper and smooth it out. Complete with 240 grills and you will want to eat from this board. Mmmmmm.
If you like that classic birch look, skip this step. I wanted something darker so I picked up some Minwax Walnut stain. Use rags or a clean cloth to ensure your board is clean of all debris and debris. Apply two or three coats and follow the instructions on the box.
The worst part. You are so close. You can fly over the mountains on your beautiful longboard with the wind in your hair. But no, you have to be patient. Use about 3 or 4 top coats to protect all that hard work. Your board will probably be exposed to all kinds of abuse, from rain to mud, shavings and dirt. This step actually takes the entire second day. The special thing… you made the whole picture in one day 😉
Build A 40″ Drop Down Longboard Skateboard
I won’t go into detail on compiling the latter because there are many resources online. But in summary:
Drill holes for your trucks as far as possible. Drill the holes again to wash the nails. Get your trucks ready. Make sure both cars are pointing or your board won’t turn!
Place the duct tape on top and use a file to secure the edges, making it easier to tear. Continue with the blade and cut off the excess. I tried to add a small round mark to brighten up my board and tone down the beautiful wood underneath. If you like, cut your own cute designs on the duct tape.
Tighten your trucks to get a good turning line. They tend to be very open out of the box.
