At home in our apartment finally arrived. There is a softness of natural light in this space that I found very calming. Last month I share bedroom paint and decorating plans. Before I dive into the perfect reveal and inspiration for decorating a gray bedroom in my second post in collaboration with PPG Paints, I thought I’d share some painting tips for lines. Perfect matches are useful. As you can see from the image at the top of the post. I decided not to leave Gray Frost all the way to the ceiling. Because I want to use the paint on all four walls of the room. So I left about a foot of white wall from the ceiling down to keep the space nice and fresh. Using this method of painting (rather than painting straight up to the ceiling line) takes more time. But I think it’s 100% worth it, especially in small spaces. My top tip for creating a professional illustrator or project is to prep, prep, prep if you take the time up front to make sure everything is properly set up and ready. For actual painting, consider: Washing the walls with oil. Taping drop sheets onto baseboards and floors First, gather your arsenal of tools and paint brushes, etc. Then you’ll be rushing through the paint department and have a new-looking space in no time! for straight lines I use a compact self-leveling laser line tool that you place on a flat surface or easel at the desired height to create perfectly straight lines on the surface you want to paint. It’s then very easy to run painter’s tape along the wall to get a perfectly straight line when you peel the tape back. Remember to keep the tape slightly wet when applying. (This will prevent the paint from penetrating) and remove the tape when you are finished painting. This will reduce the chance of the paint peeling off on the white ‘banner’ lines that form around it. The top of a room serves two purposes: First, it reflects light at the top of the room. This makes the ceiling appear higher. Secondly, it adds impact to the Gray Frost painted wall below, encouraging the eye to draw the eye into the room. And it makes the bedroom feel more intimate in the process, and here it is! Tada! I like to get out of bed and onto the carpet. It is very soft and comfortable.. I joked on Instagram about the details of the location so that it would perfectly match the room’s frosted gray. I’m glad I did because this is my favorite room I’ve ever decorated – I love it! My goal was to create a calm and harmonious space that was still fresh and not overwhelming. And it really ticks all the boxes. The attached Princeton shade is the perfect night light. Because the black and antique cord was a subtle reference point to the Petra Ebony fabric used to upholster Ella’s bed, I wore pajamas that reflected my love for Scandinavia. Wood: The gorgeous Gran Tray (remember that I used the same print as the wallpaper in an old flat in London many years ago!) and reindeer candlesticks. The gorgeous misty forest print adds a pop of mountain blue-green that I was looking for in the space. While the black and white graphic of Minted’s zebra print adds a touch of texture. I placed a trellis with a few silver bunny branches in the corners to complete the painting. I love the subtle forest references created by the inverted ‘V’ shape in the Northern Flow 2 print along the left bedside table. I covered the bed with gray bleached linen. And repeat the inverted ‘V’ pattern on a smaller scale with two Euro shades from West Elm. The grey-green of the Sanela curtains is the perfect accent color in the final space. Love!
