Long And Narrow Bathroom Ideas – We are often asked how much space we should allocate to a particular room. Is 20 feet by 25 feet the right size for a large room? Does 14 feet by 16 feet feel like enough room for a basic bedroom? And would 12 feet by 10 feet be too small for our kids to sleep in?
You might be surprised to learn that I don’t really see or design spaces to specific dimensions. There are many variables and nuances that come into play when creating a successful fundraising plan. In fact, no room or space is independent from each other, but like the pieces of a puzzle are connected and interconnected, and this connection determines the quality of the plan from the area given to each one. time
Long And Narrow Bathroom Ideas
To illustrate this important point, I’m sharing a separate bathroom floor plan from a recent floor plan review we did for a remodeling/addition project for a virtual client. We will first review the design issues in the bathroom floor plans submitted for review, then review the proposed plans and sketch and describe solutions. So without further ado, let me begin.

Notes As with all floor plan reviews, I prepared red line notes for the entire floor plan before meeting with the virtual client, pointing out problem areas and drawing up diagrams showing potential ways to solve each problem. For the purposes of this post, I had a design assistant draw my proposal in CAD to put together a schematic that was presented to a virtual client. Please note that this was done after the fact for educational purposes only. The products of a floor plan review service include overlay floor plan drawings that show potential solutions in addition to CAD-prepared drawings. Computer-aided drawings are reserved for full service projects only.
Take a look at the previous floor plans shown below, then scroll down to find the relevant numbers and descriptions of the design issues of how the original bathroom plan was designed.
Check the space lost between the bowl cabinet and the sink. To create a well-designed bathroom, it is necessary to use the design of fixtures and cabinets and maximize the functionality of the space while avoiding strange transitions.
If you leave the bathroom layout as shown, the space between the shower and the cabinets will make it difficult to reach, creating blind spots for dropped items as well as dead spots where dirt and hair can get tangled.

Plus, it’s only a matter of time before the sides of your cabinets start to suffer from water leaks.
As you can see in the photo, the width of the cabinet does not allow enough bathroom storage and counter space. Notice how the sink takes up most of the cabinets and counters.
The door to the bathroom has nothing to touch when opened. Be aware that they may vibrate against the sides of the cabinet and lean against the cabinet, which can get in the way and cause poor movement. Not to mention the potential damage to the sides of the cabinet that could occur.
Speaking of moving the door right, notice how the shower door swings in the master bathroom and not the actual toilet. Bathroom doors should always – yes, always, and without exception – swing into place instead of swinging out.

Unfortunately, in this scenario, correcting the door shift will cause the door to open in the opposite direction of the window. This is not just another thing!
However, if this problem is only with your floor plan, it can be easily solved. Pocket doors will solve both problems.
Let us now consider some potential solutions to the problem described above. As before, take a look at the revised bathroom plan shown below, then scroll down to find those numbers and an explanation of the solution.
One solution leads to another problem. Regular readers of my design magazine will know that when completing a floor plan, solving one problem often allows me to solve another problem. In order to successfully modify a floor plan, in addition to having the understanding and skills of the problem, you must also be able to identify what key elements or catalysts are needed to solve the problem.
Before And After: Small Bathroom Ideas On A Budget –
Notice how the cabinet sides are firmly attached to the new toilet/shower wall we added to the revised floor plan. No more wasted space and no lack of purposeful transition between tub and sink cabinets.
Instead of two small sinks that lacked storage and surface space, and were made worse by being awkwardly closed against each other with bad doors, we installed taller cabinets that provided more counter space and a lot more storage. Also see how adding a tall linen cabinet to the end of the sink cabinet increased storage capacity.
No more awkward doorways that would have disrupted the flow and movement of the space. As explained above, the bathroom door replacement was the real magic element that solved all the other design problems.
No more awkward bathroom door trims that appear to roll in space instead of smoothly. Changing the shower door allows you to create a separate shower/bath area, making the bathroom perfect for more than one child at a time.
