Animal Crossing Flower Design Ideas – Imagine this: meet Isabelle from Residential Services and ask her to evaluate your island. Her little thought bubble appears and she says what your current rating is… We say it’s a 4 star rating! what?? how?? You think, “I did everything you asked!” or “Rated 5 stars!”
If this is you and you feel like there’s nothing more you can do to improve your island, you’ve definitely come to the right place. Don’t be afraid. We’ll help you discover all the essential features of a 5-star island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Island and landscape development technically uses a point scale. Your grade will depend on how much of the specific topic you cover, but grading requires a lot of thought and math from me and probably yours. So a simple version that is easy to calculate would be:
How To Move Rocks — Leia Leilani
At first glance, this list may seem overwhelming. But don’t worry! It’s a lot easier than it looks, and you can achieve this without losing your organized island. Here’s how:
When some people find out how many trees they need to reach a 5-star rating, their first instinct is to go around the island and plant trees in every empty spot. However, this leads to more work later when you want to maintain your island and make it more harmonious. So how do you stay organized when it comes to planting all the trees you need?
Create a garden! Little planning is required other than choosing what type of tree you want in your garden. Depending on how much space you want to take up, your garden can be as big or as small as you want.
Personally, I chose to plot one row of every fruit and 10 columns of each fruit (5×10 plot). So I had fruit in abundance from the countryside, adding a chunk every three days, and was able to gather many species. Additionally, 50 fruit trees were kept in consistent, separate earthen plots consistent with the rest of the island, making it very pretty.

Of course, you can use other types of trees available, such as pine trees, bamboo, etc., to create different ecosystems on your island, such as zen gardens or forests. This will help you a lot in adding to your total amount.
So once you start building, 50 fencing is really easy. However, on islands it is common to get tunnel vision on how to utilize fences and the first idea is to surround a large area with one fence.
Don’t fall for this weird, space-sucking idea! Use different types of fences around your island to give different areas personality. You can do this by creating yards around your villagers’ homes, creating small garden areas, or expanding areas you’ve already created.
Even if you already have some types of flowers on your island, getting all types of flowers will help your rating and earn Nook Miles.

If you’re like me, you’ll want to have at least one flower of every color. However, they can be very difficult to keep presentable and tame when trying to organize and maintain them. I’ve tried a few different ways to order flowers from around the island, but my favorite is creating a rainbow garden.
This allowed us to create sections that were small enough to not overwork the entire island, but still have a beautiful space to show off all of the different flowers.
Personally, since my island theme is based on nature and the lodge core, there are one or two pieces where the rocks are completely covered by flowers that can be found in the wild. Once I got my 5 star rating, I randomly planted lilies of the valley to capture that feeling.
One of the hardest things to accomplish while riding a 5-star ride was installing a ramp. At the time, costs were prohibitive and the pressure to get to the perfect spot was at an all-time high.

But I would like to tell you that the most important aspect of installing a ramp (at least for me) is how you will use it. Are your ramps specifically designed to ascend or descend to the next level? Would it be a fun feature to add character to an area? How easy is it to manage to get from point A to point B?
Once you get the hang of it, don’t be afraid to stack the ramps on top of each other! Simply place a ramp between three rocks and use it to create a fun path to climb up and down. Here’s an example of an island that uses a ramp that doubles as an easy and fun route from the campsite to a hidden beach.
Like ramps, bridges can be large enough that you can find the perfect place to place them on your island. However, there are some limitations to their installation as they require a specific type of water source to be installed.
Have fun with the design and placement as you consider how you will use the bridge. To create a small fountain in a park or garden, you can create a small pond and install diagonal bridges. Or you could build a bridge lost in the woods.

Below are my thoughts on a few different designs. As I said before, I love a cottagecore vibe, so my personal style is definitely closer to “wilderness explorer” than “city dweller.”
Depending on how deep into the game you are, this can be difficult. But assuming you have a lot of materials and DIY cards, here are a few ways you can decorate your island with lots of furniture while still keeping it tidy.
It’s a great way to fit a lot of stuff into a small space. You can choose from a variety of designs including cafe, park, camp, beach and garden.
It’s a good thing that there is a lot of outdoor furniture to choose from to decorate your island. Although there were no original plans, we ended up creating a large garden and pumpkin patch area complete with water taps, gardening storage, and a wheelbarrow. It’s also a great way to grow fruit or vegetables when you need a lot of species quickly.
I Finally Finished My Rainbow Flower Garden
I’ve been planning this for weeks. Adjacent to this is a volleyball sand court, providing a variety of activities to complete the summer camp aesthetic.
, In order to decorate your island, it is essential to purchase large and small items. This doesn’t mean you have to buy everything you see. Have an area in mind that you want to create on your island and look for it in Nook’s Cranny or the Nook Stop in Resident Services.
Similar to above, you should have an idea of what to do with the furniture once you purchase it. A good idea to follow is to adapt the villagers’ yards to their personalities. Just add a few trees or shrubs, a bench, a small table, a coffee mug, or other small items.
Whether your island or home has a theme or not, adding furniture around your home can actually make your home feel more complete. Personally, I wasn’t sure what to do with the house, so I added a few things here and there until it felt like a real home.

A little-known aspect of maintaining or achieving a 5-star island is making sure all your furniture, trees and flowers are not clumped together. The game ranks your island by looking at 8×8 sections (64 squares in total), and the rank is broken if there are more than 45 items in that space.
So, spread out different areas of your island and create smaller spaces in the large open space. If you still feel like something is missing in a particular space, ask yourself what you can add to the real world to make it feel more welcoming and complete.
