Halloween Outside Decoration Ideas Diy – Halloween is fast approaching… I hate the idea of disposable Halloween decorations! Why not make some that can keep outdoors and even highlight your garden year round?! I’m sharing my 7 super unique projects that will get all the attention. How to make timeless Halloween decor.
Today, cheap plastic decorations are available at dollar stores. I shudder to think how much of that will actually make it into next year. Sure, pumpkins can be composted, but plastic will be around for a long time! These projects have stood the test of time and design!

It’s amazing to make a completely unique concrete craft that can actually withstand the elements and last for years! You may have seen this ghostly person, as his image has been a popular steal for pirated sales. I designed and built him 7 years ago and he has been taking care of my garden ever since. I am sharing the tutorial for the Concrete Lighted Step-Spook, he is made using concrete fall technique (fabric dipped in Portland cement). These projects (along with links to instructions) are below all my ideas and patterns made by me.

This lightweight concrete staircase has lasted a long time since it was raised from collecting water and has no voids to freeze and thaw. His weight prevents him from blowing.
His ghostly concrete horror “brother” also sits on a log. The only changes I’ve seen are that the vibrant colors fade a bit in full sun. Her celery texture is lovely and she can also be lit with an LED light or a lantern. Spider webs are often found naturally inside.
This concrete making technique is so versatile that you can create anything you can dream of. The Draped Concrete Cat Ghoul is also available as an e-book.
A mop dipped in cement mop hair also makes this DIY concrete giant’s hair very interesting. Woven fabric is found on witch hats during Halloween and is also used for concrete pumpkin lanterns.

These characters can also sit on a front or post porch. I prefer original concrete art to regular glue gun crafts. The techniques of using fabric in concrete offer complete versatility compared to using molds.
The best thing about these tangible figures is that they can sit almost anywhere. They are small and light enough to carry around. Some battery lights can give them a glow inside.
Even in winter, the Step-Spoke with Concrete Light is still patiently awaiting the return of Halloween. I have had no problems with cracking and rarely seal my concrete pieces.
Okay, so even though I worked out this technique, I still get confused every time I look at these super realistic concrete skulls. It’s the little extra details that make them so vintage, and it’s so easy. Hard to believe they are reusable plastic shells from the Dollar Tree.

Another tip is to use a very quick concrete mix and not fill it tightly, leave the sockets open. If you partially fill the mold as well, they can all look different, like real found scraps…
A little antiquing and some dry brushing will enhance the details. It certainly scares the scammers away. This concrete mix has a great ability to last outdoors, so you can have them year round or on your mantle. This is one of the most authentic Halloween decorations!
Another copied tutorial from my original design. “A great way to shock the kids when they walk around the neighborhood and see it in your front yard or on your pumpkin patch.” They have even held up well under the snow in the winter! (Colors may fade in full sun). The toothy grins on these DIY concrete smile rocks will make everyone smile.
Kids love these little rocks. Be careful when using cobwebs as animals can get caught in them.

Domestic Fashionista: Simple Diy Halloween Porch
I’m not complaining, it’s mostly skeletons doing skeleton things and lots of pumpkins. You know those cute little plastic jack-o-lanterns that you just plug in? I love them!
I took my photos at dusk while it was still a little light and at night and I’m sharing both!
This guy is on the other side of the stairs to greet you, and you might remember my Halloween sign made out of old fence posts and a mailbox post I picked up from the barn:
I’ve been dreaming of making something like this pumpkin bow for years! Then I came across this one in a larger size this summer and knew I finally had to make it!
21 Incredibly Creepy Outdoor Decorating Ideas For Halloween
Jack was home for a week earlier this month, and I put him and his girlfriend to work carving these handmade pumpkins for my new pumpkin arch…
There were several other dishes on the other side of the sink! These are the carving pumpkins from Michaels that we bought for 50% off.
I used a large drill bit to drill holes in the back of each so I could add lights. I used these string lights (probably for the Christmas Village houses), but replaced the clear bulbs with these orange C-7 LEDs so they wouldn’t get hot. Although they look white in the pictures…they actually glow more orange. (Like the picture during the day.)
At the top of the stairs is the butler. He was the first Halloween decoration we bought, and our outdoor Halloween decoration wouldn’t be complete without him…

He’s so scary, but we love him. Someone stole him from our screen in our old house years ago, but we managed to find a replacement online.
The outer parts are actually made of wax and flicker like real candles. I found them here on Amazon.
This guy was just the right size for this ripped rocker. I decided to turn this piece into a Halloween hanging decor which I was unable to do a few years ago….
A neighbor had given it to me and I liked it just the way it is. I was going to put it up in my store like this, but I got a great suggestion from one of you to use it in a Halloween display! I really liked this idea! (Thanks, K!)

It was an old bed linen box that I picked up at a thrift store for $2 and turned into this awesome Halloween box….
The tree behind them was added last year. It’s like a regular Christmas tree but black. I found this one. It’s covered in pumpkin candles that actually glow more orange than the yellow glow they show here.
That candlestick is another one of my spring moves that I decided to save for my Halloween display!
I gave it another coat of black spray paint and then I used Cacha from Faux Gold Leafing on top and added these crystal drops from an old lamp…

This candle holder is very heavy so it was perfect for my display as I didn’t have to worry about blowing it out.
This lower part of the porch used to be my main cemetery, but this volunteer vinca came back in full force this year and was so big and beautiful that I didn’t want to pull it out to make room for the headstones.
I decorated very similarly to last year, so I didn’t take any pictures again, but you can take that tour here.
We are expecting rainy weather tonight. Hopefully it will be easy enough for the kids to enjoy!
