The world has gone crazy in the 2 weeks since my last post. Scary stuff – and our great state of NY is the epicenter of North America. So I’m definitely on team #stfh and I won’t continue…. unless I need fresh food in a few weeks. And even then, I have a plan…which involves getting up early, a county with far fewer people than the one I live in, and some defenses.

As part of the #stfh team, I assumed it would come to that. In the months (no kidding here) and weeks leading up to our school closing, I made a list of things I could do if I was stuck at home for an extended period of time and made sure to get supplies for all the projects I wanted. make it happen. keep busy and keep my mind from going down the rabbit hole of overblown panic attacks.

We’re only 8 days into #stfh and my high list is dwindling as I get things done. Maybe I should take things slower, but the thing in me always wants to finish a task.

One of those things that was forever on sale was this gorgeous jetted tub in our bath that I thought of as “Lukas and Emily’s bath.” Why? Because after 6 years of living in our house, our niece and nephew are the only people who have ever swam there. This usually takes place in the summer during “Camp Scarpulla”. Some people dream of a bathtub to sink into. I wish it would magically transform into a larger shower room instead of a dust collector. The thing about me is that I can’t sit in the bath long enough to relax, and I’m not one to joke about my poetry.

Designing our master bath was a mystery to me. Originally, there were three different tilings: tiles on the floor, tiles around the bath and a border of tiles (instead of baseboard) at the bottom of the surrounding wall. It occurred to me that the previous owners had bought this house for top dollar and it was a “special house” at its finest. The first step in moving in was ripping out the baseboard around the wall, replacing it with baseboards (or molding?) and replacing the freestanding ages.

Then I had big dreams of completely redoing this roadside bathroom, ripping out the tub and moving our shower to where the tub is now to create a huge walk-in shower. That is until I started working for a kitchen and bath guy and found out how much it really costs to renovate a bath. That’s money I’d rather spend elsewhere, and given the current state of our country, I’ll keep it in my rainy day fund.
