I know what I like when I see it, so I scroll through it all the time, looking for slides that give my PowerPoint presentation a little more “pizazz.”

But what I found was that when I wanted to edit the design idea slides and make changes to the objects on them, I couldn’t select them.
To open the Options panel, on the Home tab, go to the Editing area, click Select, then select the Options panel and turn it on.
However, if you are displaying the Design Ideas panel, you may want to turn it off so you have more screen space.
Click on each object listed in the panel and you’ll see that you’re actually selecting the object on the Design Ideas slide.

For example, clicking ‘Oval 26’ in the Selection panel will select the small gray circle in the center of the slide.
You may have noticed that you can’t select an object to move or resize, and that can be a pain.
When I have an object that’s not where I want it, too big or too small, I select it using the selection panel, delete it, and replace it manually.
By the way, manually changing your slide won’t change the Design Ideas slide, so you’ll need to do this for every slide you need to update.
