Greeting Card Design Ideas App – I have a confession to make. I once bought a birthday card at the store without planning anything. At that point I stopped by to pick up the gift bags and birthday cards because I almost couldn’t think of anything else, I know – crazy right? But now I have a crate cutter. I was able to create these beautiful handmade cards that were fun, thoughtful and not too difficult. I gave you a butterfly card. Fairy House Card apple tree card and coffee cup gift card holder They were all birthday cards from the past few months. But I decided it was time to design something just for my birthday. So I made a pop up birthday cake card!

What I love about my birthday cake card — and what I hope you will too — is how it appears as a two-tiered round cake … complete with candles! It’s like something magical from Harry Potter, so you can put it in an envelope, send it to a friend, and they’ll open it to see a wonderful little cake. Alas, it doesn’t smell like chocolate or taste like Funfetti – I’ll let you know. you know

IMPORTANT: This design includes three SVG cut files. These files contain SCORELINES. I’ve grouped each score line by its corresponding section. You must first ungroup the parent group. Then convert the score line layer to “Score” in the Cricket design space. Then connect the score layer to the adjacent clipping layer. Need help with grading? Check out my tutorial on cricket scoring, grouping and attaching!

After merging the score layer with the cut layer You can click create and proceed with editing.

Insert your fine blade and cut your cardstock. (I used medium cardstock in the Custom Materials setting in Cricket Design Space.) If you’re having trouble cutting out complex letters, Be sure to check out my Cricut Cutting Problems Guide for ideas.

When the card paper is cut It’s time to assemble the cake! First, watch the entire assembly video to see how everything comes together:

Now let me walk you through each step. First, fold the cake stand as we show in the picture below. Both side tabs fold down along with the bottom tab.

Next, fold the cake into a circle. (Both large and small) As I’ve shown below, narrow strips curve down to support the sides of the cake. You can also fold the cake into a V shape for easy folding when the card is closed. (Note: If you never plan to fold the cake You don’t need to fold the top of the cake)

Now slide the cake support from the bottom of the larger round cake up through the center hole. Then open the side tabs of the cake stand.

Then, place a small round cake on it. Place yours on the top bar of the cake stand. and slide the side supports into the slots at the top of the large cake stand. Glue the side support strips to the bottom of the large cake as shown below.

Now decide what kind of round cake plate you want to use – I’ve included a plain plate and a scalloped plate in the file. Fold in half along the score line. Then insert the strip Insert the cake base (center and sides) into the slots of the plate and glue it down.

This is the basic structure of your cake! Now you need to decide what type of cake you want – flat cardstock. Pleated cardstock or ribbon, flat cardstock also works. And it looks good if you never fold it. But when you fold The paper will not form a circle around the cake at all. So if this bothers you. (It’s ok if it isn’t.) I have two solutions – crimp the sides of the cardboard cake before painting. Or use a ribbon! All three methods work the same. So I’m going to show you how to fold a regular piece of cardstock.

Place two layers of masking tape on all four supports on each side of the cake. Make sure the tape doesn’t go through the sides or top of the support, cut it, or the cake may stick on its own instead of popping up.

Then, place one end of the cake on top of the taped base. Then press down firmly. Do this for both floors.

Wrap the sides around Do not attempt to use double-sided tape once you reach the starting point on each side. Because it’s not strong enough I suggest you stick with regular tape instead. The tape will be on the back. so as not to notice the tape clearly But you can try gluing. (Although I have a hard time with that too.)

Now attach the candle. Place the cake (or whatever you want) on the strip extending from the top of the cake. If you decide not to put anything on top Glue or tape the top of the cake so it doesn’t come off.

At this point, you can decorate the cake however you want. I want to make a daisy cake. So I added small daisies. Use it to spread on the cake if you want. If you decide to decorate it more intricately. I recommend that you stick them while the sides of the cake are flat.

Now fold the outside card in half along the score line. Then glue the bottom of the cake plate to your outer card. I recommend that you mount it with the card spread out and fully flat. Make sure the creases in the cake plate line up with the creases in the card.
