Interior Design Or Graphic Design – Although design & interior design are similar professions that attract creative people, they are very different. This means that one is not better than the other. What you may want to consider is the best discipline for your project, skills/interests, & (if you want to start a creative career), which discipline fits your larger career goals.

The first thing that jumps out at you is that design works mainly in the second level, while the design is in the third. One exercise creates structured spaces & the other creates a narrative style. What if I told you that graphic designers are often used by interior designers to work on 3D space? I myself trained as an interior designer at university, but now I’m a graphic designer. Also, I found a pivot from interior design to interior design. Perhaps, although different, content, & design are two sides of the same coin? (More on this later).

Both work with clients & employ other professionals from various disciplines to complete projects. For interior designers, this can send basic or 2d renderings to a drawing program. For graphic designers, this may mean working with designers or UX designers. It works for design & engineering staff to collaborate as there is always overlap in skills.

Many professional jobs require some form of drawing, graphics included. Studying graphic design & then putting it into design would not be a noticeable change- (that said, that’s exactly what I did). Design can bring more money to the project, popularity – based on the market – to the client, is also a factor, but in terms of job satisfaction, answering whether one is better than the other would involve a lot of thinking.

In terms of value, design reaches many people, & (due to its use in advertising & marketing), I would say it has a significant impact on culture and society. I would say that the design does not affect the society first, rather, it reflects the taste of the society. That’s not to say that design is all about veneer.   Design can change people’s actions, their behavior. For example, encouraging customers to feel welcome and comfortable in a coffee shop, encouraging customers to shop in a gift shop, creating a safe, healthy and productive environment, promoting human interaction at the bar, or encouraging demonstrations.

From a technical point of view, both graphics & design are concerned with space, scale, color, contrast, scale, progression & other basic principles.

Although architectural design occupies a 2D space, you will find architects who have created architectural designs & architectural designs in a visual space. Interior design, I would suggest, also exists in this area as a unique extension of the 3D image. Internally there are a few similarities between the two disciplines:
