8 Best Practices For Ui Card Design

After I made the junk journal booklet (which I gave away to one of my beloved notebooks), I thought I’d make another book. Another kind of notebook. A small one. One that looks like a library card! (Wonder if they still have library cards in this modern, modern age. . . )

Let’s talk about printed cards first. I made the patterns to print as a 6″ x 4″ graphic. You are free to download and use it for your own personal use. (We’ll talk a little more about library card sizes in a minute.)

I have many colors for you to choose from. Right click on what you want below and save. (Finally, there’s a buff-colored one and a vintage-looking one if you’re interested.)

Before printing the cards, I wrote the name of the book and its author. I included the due date (which was the birthday of the child who received the book).

I got a free baby font that looks like a baby font and used that font to write the grandson’s name. Check out the image below to see what my kids’ names look like. I love how they turned out!

If I fold the lined paper and press it firmly with my fingers it lays flat.

If I fold a library card in half and press it hard with my fingers it lays flat.

I unfolded the lined paper and placed the 7 pieces on top of each other. I opened the library card and carefully placed it on the lined paper. Then, I glued them together along the crease line.

A word of caution here. You cannot have more paper than your stapler can handle. I put 9 sheets in a library card book and my stapler won’t go through all the paper. That’s why I only used the remaining 7 pieces of paper. The stapler worked well for that amount.

I didn’t want them to be 5″ x 3″ because I thought that would be too small. That’s why I made it 6″ x 4″.

I couldn’t line up the fold because the throat area of the stapler was too small. What to do, oh what to do
