Bedroom Design Ideas Boy – These men’s bedroom ideas are great inspiration for a boys’ bedroom makeover; including room ideas for couples or teenagers.
If you’re planning to design a boy’s bedroom in your home, I follow these simple guidelines to keep it on budget. It’s good to focus on keeping the main/expensive pieces neutral, adding cheaper accessories and decor that can change over time as your child grows. For example, invest in a high-quality bed and chest of drawers that grow with your child. If you choose a double fire bed, the lifespan is limited to a certain number of years. If you invest in a quality twin bed frame, you can change out the art, sheets, pillows and even paintings for a lot less to carry your child through the years.

Headboard Curated On Ltk
You may know that I recently started tackling our older son’s bedroom in the Spring One Room Challenge. We’re going with atmospheric forest vibes, as one of his favorite pastimes (and biggest passions) is mountain biking. And here, that means you’ll be cycling in moody, misty forests for most of the year!
Here is his inspiration board. You can read more about where we are in this boys bedroom makeover in this check-in post:
He’s pretty excited that it’s finally his turn to freshen up the room, like I’ve done for his little brother twice before!
A few years ago at our Forest House, we did an “adventure themed” boys bedroom design for our younger son’s room. Both boys are very fond of cycling, so the topic was born from this hobby of theirs.
15 Awesome Boys Bedroom Ideas For Fun And Functionality
About four years ago, when we were still living in our lake house, we decorated our younger son’s bedroom with surf-style men’s bedroom decor. Loved the wave painting! It inspired us to use the mural again, this time in our older son’s room.
As I mentioned, our older son is pretty excited, now it’s his turn to completely transform the room. Most of the stuff has now arrived and I can’t wait to see it all come together. After creating his bedroom design plan, I spent some time looking at other teen bedroom ideas and decided to share some of my favorites with you.
There are definitely some commonalities between some of these men’s bedrooms, and one thing I’ve noticed is how great different finishes look in boys’ bedrooms! I also like that the design takes into account the interests and preferences of the child or teenager, for example in terms of color schemes and accessories. Shelves are a wonderful way to combine personal accessories and decorative items and can create a really cozy feeling when placed on either side of the bed.
Paneling is a great way to add interest and character to a boy’s bedroom (or any space!). In my search for inspiration and ideas, I found some great boys bedrooms with some type of upholstery.
Teen Boy’s Basketball Room Reveal
This beautiful men’s room setting from Southern Revivals has many elements that I incorporated into Leif’s new room – it has a similar color scheme with black and white and warm camel wood and leather. In our case, we’re bringing in a lot more greenery on the walls, but I love the black wall in this room. You can also see that the entire space is done with floor-to-ceiling board and molding, which adds a ton of texture.
Another full-height example is this awesome boys bedroom makeover at Bless this Nest. This time it was done on a wall instead of the entire space. The black and white color scheme makes the leather chair and cushions really pop. I also love the feel of the metal and wood furniture in the boys bedroom.
Chalkboard and batten panels used in a half-wall application look great in this cozy and relaxed feel for a boys bedroom makeover at Twelve on Main. Low bookshelves under the window are a good use of space. An upholstered bed with nailhead detailing and a framed jersey give this room an elegant feel.
As with the shirt above the bed in the previous example, this simple but cute men’s bedroom design features a rustic basketball hoop above the bed. There’s a mix of grey, black and camel/warm wood tones that make this room feel cozy and inviting despite being quite plain and plain.
75 Beautiful Small Kids’ Room Room For Boys Ideas & Designs
I love the bold navy blue wallpaper and trim combination in this gorgeous CC&Mike boys bedroom. It feels fun and modern, yet has a classic vibe that feels mature enough to grow with a kid from their 20s to college. A bold blue accents an otherwise neutral palette with lots of white, black and gray.
A separate wall behind the bed with a mural of different shoes is a very fun addition to this men’s bedroom. It adds a lot of character and speaks to the interests of its owner. The modern mural is also a nice contrast to the more rustic feel of the modern yet rustic linear wood paneling. Unconventional pops of color add extra sensitivity to this space.
Adding shelves gives a sense of extra comfort around the bed and reinforces the bed area as the center of the room. It’s also a really convenient way to use the space in a child’s bedroom.
Built-in shelves in the room below give a fully customized feel to the bed area. Doubling up by adding a desk to the built-in shelf makes a small space much more functional. This room also has a bit of an industrial vintage feel with caged lamps, a brick wall behind the bed and a giant letter sign.

Even if you don’t have built-in shelves, you can add rustic industrial open shelving. This fun ice hockey room is boy-friendly but not overpowering in theme. Dark gray walls ground the warm woods, and rustic industrial pipe shelves create a bed-locked atmosphere.

Scroll to Top Kids’ rooms are always fun to renovate because you can go a little crazy, but when they hit their teenage years, it’s time to dial it back and create something a little more grown-up. My son Albin is 16 and spends a lot of time in his room (sometimes I think I hear him talking to himself but he’s actually playing against friends (I think the game is still Horris Goes Skiing on the ZX Spectrum circa 1984 to you can see why this gets confusing!) Orchestra Albin has a pretty laissez-faire approach (understatement!) as long as he can sleep, study, and play on the computer/watch football, tennis, or baseball, or WHATEVER is planned, he will happy as Larry (still wondering who that is?!), we wanted to make sure the look reflected her personality, helped with products from my wonderful makeover sponsor, Danish home goods brand Nordal, and made sure she had everything can. necessary!
I really wish I had a “before” picture (I forgot to take one), but if you can picture all white walls, no shelves, and a slightly tattered poster stuck to the wall with cello tape, then you’re on to something!
The 200 cm wide bed was perfectly adapted to the width of the room – at the end there is enough space for the TV, which is placed on a narrow wall shelf. Textile layers in the form of pillows and a rug (all Nordahl) and the blue-grey wall color (S 7010-R90B Ambience by Nordjö) helped add a cozy atmosphere.

Simple wooden shelves were painted the same color as the wall and placed higher for extra storage. The General and I love the corner gallery wall (remember this one?!). This set includes a Happy Mondays print and an old Albini drawing. It can also be easily added to the gallery over time. A wall-mounted reading lamp helps light up the corner when it gets dark (in a small room, wall-mount accessories free up floor space).
