Bedroom Design Ideas Mustard – Mustard yellow and ocher are colors I’ve been seeing a lot in the home lately (even yesterday I posted a home with a mustard sofa). Mustard yellow is not as bright as a normal yellow, but it is a beautiful color if you want to add bright colors to your home that still feel warm.

In this post, I have selected some examples of how you can incorporate mustard yellow/orcas into your home. From mustard furniture to wall paint and home decorations, there are many ways to brighten up your room with these beautiful colors.

Mustard yellow furniture is a great way to incorporate color into your home. Combine it with calm tones to make your piece of furniture the center of the room. Or you can combine the mustard yellow furniture with colorful wallpaper to make it a really bouncy room. Whatever style you choose, mustard yellow furniture always makes a room look nice.

Colorful Beach Bedroom Decorating Ideas

We’ll be the first to admit it – we’re not exactly morning people. But after seeing the bright and sunny bedrooms, we’re rethinking our stance. While conventional wisdom suggests painting your bedroom a muted blue to encourage rest and relaxation, we can’t help but think that this approach might be neglecting another (just as important!) element of the sleep cycle: waking up.

From ultra-saturated sunflower-inspired hues to warm and glowing golden hues, there’s something about opening your eyes to a yellow bedroom that provides a jolt of optimistic energy that can turn even the staunchest night owl into one who rises with the sun. Talk about a glow.

“I’ve really been trying to push adding color to your room lately, just to brighten things up and bring up moods,” says interior designer and color expert Iman Stewart. “I just think it’s so important – color gives so much. It’s an instant mood booster.” Something we all need now more than ever.

Iman Stewart, Design Director of I|S Iman Stewart Interiors, is a Toronto-based designer of residential and commercial spaces with projects spanning Canada, Jamaica and the United States.

The Colour Collections

We’re thrilled with this yellow-on-yellow nursery that packs a big punch in the personality department. A bright lemon bed almost melts into an equally bright yellow wall with a funky asymmetrical color block, and we couldn’t be more impressed with the high-impact, low-risk result. Yellow bedding and a colorful comforter add another pop of color while gray accents ground the room.

Stewart’s biggest tip? Look at the color wheel. “It’s basic color psychology,” she explains. “If you have a yellow headboard or any yellow item, you want to include the complementary color, which would be purple in this case. If you add the complementary color, it will always look good.” She encourages pulling in different shades of the complementary color for a look that is layered and interesting. “With your complementary color, it doesn’t have to be just one bold color,” she says. “There can be more variations for the monochromatic feel.”

Who’s afraid of a little trial mixing? Certainly not us. From the yellow chevron headboard to the floral print bedding to the graphic curtains, this eye-catching, high-contrast bedroom shows that there’s no such thing as too much pattern. Take cues from the website by keeping complementary colors and pattern scales in mind, aiming to hit one of the large, medium and small scale patterns for variety.

Yellow Bedroom Ideas: 27 Ways To Use The Sunny Color

“Light tones are still really hot right now,” shares Stewart. When in doubt, you can always count on them to pump up the liveliness of a room. A golden mustard or citrine will play well with other vibrant colors such as amethyst, teal and emerald. With brilliant tones, floral prints and architectural trim, this bedroom has all the elements of a traditional style room, but its bold mix of colors and smart accessories allow the owner’s rebellious personality to really shine through.

Do you already want to try the mural trend? Good news – shades of yellow are the perfect complement to a whimsical wall motif, so get out your paint brushes and let the creative juices flow. We love this free-form mosaic style that also incorporates other trendy hues (we’re looking at you, desert pink). It’s a show-stopping backdrop for a simple white bed (or cot) and other neutral decor.

Are you unsure whether you want to invest in a wall painting? Don’t sweat it—companies like Wayfair and West Elm offer peel-and-stick versions, so you can try the trend without fully committing.

Even if you’re not a morning person, you’ll enjoy waking up with the sun—that is, a bright orb painted behind (or instead of) the headboard, which in this yellow and orange bedroom that really shines here might be orange, but a door and throw rugs in cheery yellow hues plus splashes of mustard and gold throughout enhance the sunny disposition of this lively bedroom.

Bedroom Color Schemes

If you’re looking for a calming oasis best suited for lazy Sundays and Netflix sessions, consider opting for one or two yellow accent pieces instead of an entirely yellow-centric palette. Here, a mustard quilt lends a layered look to this cozy retreat and ties back in gold and wood accents for a cohesive palette. We love how everything stands out against the dreamy blue-grey walls.

Maybe you’re a little skeptical when it comes to bold paint colors, and that’s totally fine. Stewart suggests creating contrast by choosing a neutral base instead. “A good neutral color would be like a gray or off-white,” she says. “Then bring a dash of yellow out through your decor pieces.” In this regal retreat, a mix of saffron-hued accents contrast beautifully against a creamy white slate for a glam vibe. On another note, is it just us, or is mustard-colored velvet the most luxurious fabric on the planet?

The secret to making any room look stylish? Unexpected color combinations. Don’t be afraid to experiment with mixing colors until you’re happy with the result. In this bright and cozy corner bedroom, warm rust tones add an earthy element to the room, and bring out the amber tones of a Japanese-inspired floral fabric from the design house Schumacher. Beige accents draw from the same palette and continue the earth-inspired color story.

It turns out that a sprawling yellow wall makes an ideal backdrop for your curated art collection, especially considering that it draws the eye pretty much as soon as you walk through the door. An eclectic gallery wall in particular looks even more museum-worthy against bright, super-saturated yellow walls – the perfect way to ensure you always see your precious art in the best possible light.

If you really want to make a statement, don’t be afraid to embrace your inner artist and color enthusiast. You know what they say – “No risk, no reward.” Definitely not for the faint of heart, this ultra-colorful bedroom embraces bold wainscoated walls painted in a duo of yellows—a yellow lover’s paradise if we ever saw one, ideal for the sunny optimist.

When using a particularly eye-catching wallpaper print, try to tackle just one wall. Not only does it make it easier if you change your mind (and undoubtedly if the wallpaper can be removed), but it’s a great way to keep the pressure from being overwhelming, especially in small rooms. Stewart also suggests toning down some of the other elements. “If you’re going to do [yellow] wallpaper, I’d definitely try to go neutral with some of the other pieces so you don’t overwhelm the room.” Here, crisp white bedding, wooden furniture and a jute rug provide the right balance.

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of the little mustache bedclothes, but we’re totally baffled that we’ve never
