One of the most important things I’ve learned over the years is how important balance is to making a room work well For a studio, I think it’s best to place the couch and sofa on opposite walls They don’t have to be directly opposite each other, but placing both on the same wall can make one side heavy and the other side feel out of balance with the other wall. By placing two (potentially) larger pieces of furniture on opposite walls, you create that balance that pleases the eye in the design. When buying small space furniture for the living room, it is important to look for pieces with some air under the piece, pieces with legs. Of course you’ll need storage pieces like a closet – but you want to make sure you don’t end up with a whole room of block storage pieces. Furniture you can see is a godsend for a studio apartment Lucite is the first thing that comes to mind (and it’s a great option), but if that’s not your bag, look for other types of furniture that are light and airy, like wicker. The above coffee table in this house is a perfect example of non-Lucite furniture (and I love it, wish I knew where it came from). When looking for lucite or acrylic jewelry, my recommendation is to only use one piece – too much and it just looks weird or tacky. A ghost chair, Lucite coffee table or Lucite console will visually disappear and visually expand the scene as your eyes pass over them (hence the term “ghost chair”). One final tip for apartment dwellers is to make sure to get a bed that allows for under-bed storage. I’m not the biggest fan of beds with built-in drawers underneath – I use drawers under the bed and hide them by a bedspread. But maybe one can work! I have this bedskirt and I really love it – I’ve actually been using it for over ten years, I’m kind of shocked that they’re still there! For the boxes under the bed, I use the ones from the box store (they’re actually shoe boxes but they hold an amazing amount of clothes!) and I also like their convenience in thick places. . If you have enough room, these look great and are really convenient (unfortunately I have an annoying support bar under my bed so these don’t fit me). I keep it in a storage box to protect woolen items without the gross mothball smell
