Box Design Ideas Drawing – To summarize further, the visuals of the development of the diagram here illustrate some of the key issues I was focusing on when thinking about (R2P) instruments.

Here are some concept sketches from late 2008. I tried to think of alternatives to the simple “boxy briefcase” design, but I found myself going back and forth trying to keep it simple. i

This is a collection of sketches I did for the kit. It looks quite “boxy” due to the focus on component organization. You want the smallest form factor.

Next, I created a cardboard mockup to get a better idea of the size of the box, and also to look at code management. I underestimated how much the USB dongle would stick out and made the box about half an inch shorter. The netbook will not fit inside the box if the USB cables are attached (two on the left and one on the right).

Creating this mockup was very informative and I would like to put together a few more variations. This version looks a little too big. Fred also mentioned that the height of the “lid” could partially obstruct the view of the people sitting behind it. USB speakerphone placement is also not ideal. Because it’s a bit too secure and interferes with the range of the built-in microphone. This led Fred and I to discuss the option of mounting the components on a tripod that would mount the entire unit. When classes started on Thursday, I was part excited, part confused, and very worried. We were presented with dozens of wind-up toys, but I just wanted to see them in action.

But we watched each one slowly, wound them up before analyzing them and deciding how fast they’d move based on what they sounded like and how they looked.

After a few minutes of playing with toys during the break, it was time to talk about the project. We will use cardboard to protect and store design related items (and protect and transport other items). Specifically, in one category of objects related to our design life, I have chosen “hard objects”, specifically design tools.

I’m not entirely sure what the final thing will look like, but it’s somewhat limited because I can only use cardboard, no glue, and it needs to be able to be assembled quickly. So, I’m thinking of an idea for the final project, but I want to focus on tackling these challenges now so they don’t become a problem later.

I started by coming up with some ideas for the project as a whole, some ideas for possible components and installation methods, and some plans to try.

Next, we moved on to testing using cardboard. I started trying to make Figure A, but didn’t realize at the time that it had a fatal flaw.

First, sketch the mesh and cut out the outline. At that time, I thought things were going well.

Then I attached the two smaller sides of the box and realized that the four sides were not actually attached and didn’t work at all. So, to solve this, I turned to Figure B. Unfortunately, I had already cut too much cardboard to make it properly, so I taped off the extra flaps (really, they’re just folds).

Surprisingly, it worked very well. However, there were some problems. First, I made the tab too short. In fact, it had to be much thicker than the thickness of the cardboard. Next, I made sure the outside and inside sides were the same height and turned those two sides outward. I think it would be more stable if the inside was shortened a bit.

I then moved on to testing other connection methods. I didn’t have a specific outline in mind, and preferred quality and chose a simple composition. I decided to choose a cross that intersects on a flat base (similar to a partition structure).

I think the experience has been great, and very strong. However, I tried to create a second divider along the direction, but it seems to have failed. So I would like to try and see if tabs work better in that direction.

I also think the dovetail tabs and long tabs worked well, but it’s important to note that they don’t lie completely flat as they extend beyond the base.

Next, I moved on to testing the interlocking edges. I’ve used this method before with laser cut wood, but I thought it could be done with thick cardboard as well.

I started by spacing them evenly, leaving 1/2 inch between the fingers. It gave a good looking result, but was not structurally stable.

Next, I tried varying the spacing so that the fingers were 1.25 cm and the gap was 1 cm. However, it was too much, so I cropped it to make it a little closer.

I also noticed that the edges weren’t lined up because I hadn’t really thought through the math behind it. So if you use this method you will need to adjust it. I don’t really know how it will turn out since I cut off an arbitrary amount, but I need to tweak the distance between the fingers anyway.

Overall, we learned a lot from these experiences. Also, while I was experimenting, I was still thinking about what I wanted my end goal to be. Instead of creating things like drawers, you may want to go more in the direction of dividers. Maybe I’ll put something in there. My closets are a bit cluttered and I have a hard time finding things, so I don’t think having a completely separate system would work.

I had this in mind, but when I started putting the knife into the cardboard, things didn’t quite go as planned.

We decided to simply prototype a mechanism that would reveal a “hidden room” consisting of two boxes when the top layer was lifted. I started by making a large box. I made it similar to the first box experiment, but made the tabs longer and cut off the top layer of cardboard when making the creases. I also tried trimming the inside of the thick edges, but it was too short. However, the box was still securely fastened (and better than the first experience).

Next, I moved to a smaller box. The picture below is not the actual box (I had to adjust the proportions because it wasn’t right on the other box), but I followed the same process.

I then used a folded piece of cardboard, made by peeling off a layer of cardboard as an axle. I cut two holes in a rectangular piece of cardboard and threaded an axle through each. I also tried to make a “washer” in this picture, but that just made things look complicated and didn’t give me as much benefit as I thought, especially since the final product didn’t work as well as I’d hoped. Who was I didn’t. .

Although I tried to plan ahead, I missed a few things while making the piece. I didn’t consider that I would need the extra length behind the base box to hold the axle. This means that you will eventually have to shorten the part where the shaft connects. Then I realized that this meant my range of motion was reduced and my upper back wasn’t growing as much as I had hoped.

I also didn’t know that because of the friction between all the parts, the parts wear out after only a few uses, and now they break easily if you don’t shake them gently.

I also didn’t add any support structure to the bottom of the top box to mount it on, so it doesn’t really hold much, if any, pens or pencils.

This prototype wasn’t a complete failure, but it wasn’t a complete success either. I definitely learned a lot and have some things to remember for the future.

There are also a few things you might want to try, especially if you’re particular about the lifting mechanism.

I liked the previous idea, but felt it didn’t work very well given the constraints of using only cardboard. So after thinking for a while I came up with a new idea.

I still wanted to.
