Character Design Ideas – We love the cute character and pet designs on the door. We have created many amazing mascot characters and logos for our clients that not only look great but also create the right impact on the target audience.
In today’s character inspiration episode, we’ll look at the top 10 character design inspirations that I personally love and what makes good character design, from children’s characters to game characters. Please note that these are my personal preferences (on the principles of people’s personalities) and I will try to update the page when I see better ones. Understanding the character idea along with the facial expression creates a wonderful character from a great character concept.

I love the design style and idea of this chubby superhero set. Although I am not sure if this is politically correct in the sense that it can be considered a glorification and promotion of obesity among children. But maybe it suits today’s leftist ideas about body pride etc. The characters, however, are very well designed and the online game looks like it would be fun if the design style is anything to go by. the sign
Character Design Tips: Get Inspired For Creating Unique Characters
Each unique character design features an overweight child with a superpower. Vibrant colors and 3D styles make characters stand out and this is the essence of effective character design. It would also make a great animated short or film. (source)
A series of random but fun character designs by the talented Chabe Escalante. The pencil work is fabulous and it looks like Disney has a manga style. The colors are vibrant and the profile is excellent. Seeing the characters you want to write a story about them, maybe make a short animation!
Concept artist and illustrator Vicente Valentine created these amazing characters. The style and influence of these characters is quite high. It reminds me of DC and Marvel comics and the level of detail and perspective is amazing.
The line work, shading and color compositions give the characters depth and dynamism, making them look like they are about to take action. (source)

Another fun character from the talented Chabe Escalante is included in this list. I just love her illustrations! This time Chabe takes a look at some of the most important DC characters and gives them a fresh new perspective. He created alternate versions of the characters, maybe when they were young, and he created a series where your people can actually be ordinary, wearing suits and branded bomber jackets.
Anyway, Chabe’s character explorations look amazing and I think an animated series with these characters would really take off! (source)
Asian Connection is a series of characters inspired by the journey of the talented digital artist Tano Bonfanti to China and Japan, where he was inspired by the incredible and powerful images that he decided to create as characters. The characters look like they belong in a post-apocalyptic world maybe 300 years from now. They have bionic implants and cyborg-like extensions. The clothes are quite trendy and are inspired by Japanese clothing such as kimono. The weapons are also quite bionic and look great. There is also a samurai sword.
These characters look like they are rendered in 3D and could be used as inspiration for a sci-fi movie, like Ghost In The Shell. (source)
Villain Character Design By Cptbee On Deviantart
Created by Goodname Studio, this font is one of my favorites because I love anything to do with the 30s and 40s: art, fashion and steampunk. Or maybe even in the 50’s and 60’s! The studio’s mission was to design characters and environments based on very specific backgrounds for an animation project.
The character looks very stylish and elegant. The illustration style is very similar to a project we did for one of our clients: clean lines, slightly larger than life and very visible. (source)
Now that’s a fun looking character that will really impact any marketing campaign. The 3D rendered t-rex looks like a full grown t-rex, but one that is fun, harmless and gentle. The 3D rendering is very clean with attention to detail and the various poses capture the integrity of the giant very well.
Designed by Gal Yosef and Fusion Studio, the character design explores how to take an almost clichéd icon and breathe new life and perspective into it. TBurger’s marketing campaign looks well thought out and planned. (source)
100 Modern Character Design Sheets You Need To See!
Everyone loves Marvel characters; at least that’s what I’d like to think. I am a big fan and I love movies. I’ve seen several versions of Marvel character illustrations, but this series by the talented Josep Solé takes the cake.
These characters are very whimsical and almost silly: cross-eyed and cartoonish in look and feel, but embody each character’s personality and strengths. Captain America looks serious, but you can see purpose in his eyes. Hulk looks crazy as usual, but his strength shows. Iron Man looks leaner than I’d like, but there’s a sense of style and sophistication to him. And finally, Thor looks epic with his attitude, courage and power. (source)
This set of characters is quite unique in that they look more like photographs than pictures. They were created by Max Twain in Vladivostok, Russian Federation and are a combination of illustration, photography and 3D CGI rendering. They look out of this world. With a sense of realism that is difficult to achieve using CGI, Max was able to create a large variety of character designs.
If you didn’t tell that these were CGI, it would be hard to guess unless you looked closely. Hats off to Max! (source)

This is a wonderful project by Neel Kar in Woodland Hills and Sevan Kouzouian in Burbank. The characters in this amazing game “The Evil Within 2” for PS4 are very well designed and executed. Again, they look more like real characters than CGI, especially the ones on the skin with the white pain coating. (source)
I would prefer the top 20 characters or even the top 30! There are so many amazing characters, including 2D and 3D characters, this list might be too limited, but my intention was to show a wide variety of styles and design aesthetics. If you have any favorite character designs, as well as comic pictures you’d like to share, please post links to them in the comments section below.
