Character Design Ideas Drawing – We love cool character and mascot designs. We have created a multitude of attractive mascots and mascot logos for our clients that not only look great but also have a positive impact on their target audience.
In today’s episode of Branding Inspiration, I look at my 10 favorite inspirational character designs and what makes a good character design, from children’s characters to game characters. Please note that these are my personal preferences (regarding character personality principles) and I plan to update the page if I find something better. Understanding the idea of a character as well as facial expressions can lead to creating great characters from great character concepts.

I love the design style and the idea of this chubby superhero. I’m not sure this is politically correct in the sense that obesity is seen as glorified and encouraged in children. But perhaps this applies to the current left-wing idea that there is no such thing as being proud of your body. Each unique character design depicts an overweight child with superpowers. Bright colors and 3D styles make your characters stand out, which is the essence of effective character design. You can also create stunning short animations and movies. (sauce)
A series of random but fun character creations by the talented Chabe Escalante. The pencil work is excellent and looks like a fusion of Disney and manga styles. The colors are vibrant and the profile is sublime. When I look at characters, I tend to want to write a story or make an animated short about them.
Concept artist and illustrator Vicente Valentine created these awesome character designs. The style and influence of these characters is enormous. It reminds me of DC Comics and Marvel Comics, but the level of detail and perspective is simply incredible.
The line art, shading, and color composition give the characters depth and a sense of dynamism, making them look like they’re about to start moving at any moment. (sauce)

Another series of fun characters from the talented Chabe Escalante joins this list. I simply love his illustrations! This time, Chave explored some major DC characters and gave them a new perspective. She created a series in which she created alternate versions of characters, presumably from their younger years, who might actually be normal people wearing designer suits and jackets.
Regardless, Chabe’s exploration of the characters is great and I think an animated series with these characters would be really popular. (sauce)
Asian Connection is a character series inspired by talented digital artist Tano Bonfanti’s travels to China and Japan. Tano Bonfanti was inspired by an incredibly powerful image and decided to create it as a character. The characters seem to come from a post-apocalyptic world, perhaps 300 years from now. They appear to have binic implants and cyborg-like augmentations. The costumes are very fashionable and are inspired by Japanese clothing such as the kimono. The weapons are also very bionic and look great. There is also a samurai sword.
These characters appear to be rendered in 3D and could serve as inspiration for sci-fi films like Ghost In The Shell. (sauce)

This set of characters created by Goodname Studio is one of my favorites because I love anything related to the 30s and 40s, including art deco, fashion, and steampunk. Or maybe even in the 50s or 60s. The studio’s mission was to design characters and environments based on the very specific story of the animated project.
The character looks very stylish and fashionable. The illustration style is very similar to a project we did for one of our clients. Clean lines, slightly larger than life and very visible. (sauce)
This is a fun character to watch and will add huge impact to any marketing campaign. The 3D rendered Tyrannosaurus looks like an adult Tyrannosaurus, but it is a fun, harmless and gentle Tyrannosaurus. The 3D rendering is very detailed and very perfect, highlighting the fullness of the giant very well in various poses.
The character designs, designed by Gal Yosef and Fusion Studio, are a study in giving new life and perspective to almost mundane icons. TBurger’s marketing campaign seems well thought out and planned. (sauce)
Character Design Ideas. Need Help.
Everyone loves Marvel characters – or at least I’d like to think so. I’m a big fan and I love the movies. I’ve seen many different versions of Marvel character illustrations, but this series by the talented Josep Solé is by far the best.
These characters are very eccentric and almost stupid. They have a cartoonish and sleazy appearance while conveying each character’s personality and strengths. Captain American looks serious, but you can see the purpose in his eyes. Hulk looks angry, as usual, but his strength shines through. Iron Man looks thinner than I’d like, but he has a sense of style and sophistication. And finally, Thor looks epic with his laid back attitude, courage and power. (sauce)
The characters in this series are very unique in the sense that they look more like photographs than illustrations. They were created by Max Twain in Vladivostok, Russian Federation, using a combination of illustrations, photographs and 3D CGI renderings. They look out of this world. The sense of realism that is difficult to achieve with CGI allowed Max to achieve a series of stunning character designs.
Unless you are told it is CGI, it would be hard to guess that it is CGI without closer inspection. Hats off to Max! (sauce)

The characters in this great game for PS4, The Evil Within 2, are very well designed and executed. Again, the characters on the cover, especially with the white pain overlay, look more like real people than CGI characters. (sauce)
I wish I could be in the top 20, or even top 30, when it comes to character design! The scope of this list is probably very limited, as there are many great character designs, including 2D and 3D characters, but my intention was to showcase a wide range of design styles and aesthetics. This is a personal project of 15 illustrations focused on character design. I wanted to improve my character design and drawing skills, so I decided to draw a small series of illustrations with a small number of characters and no specific theme. Here are the final five.

I felt the character designs needed improvement. I needed more variety than just kids, but I really like drawing kids and they are so funny. I wanted to draw more adult female and male characters and finish the work sooner. This project does not have a specific theme, and each illustration is independent.
For this project and all my work, I use Photoshop. I work with Photoshop CC and a Wacom Bamboo tablet. From the drawing, everything is done digitally. First, compose the image by drawing a general sketch without color, including the character and the background. Then I usually color the characters, in this case the children. You’ll draw a flat color with a textured brush so you can see the palette and make changes as needed. Draw lines with other texture brushes and add details like shadows and eyes at the end.
To create a background, choose a base color and experiment with texture. For this project I wanted to keep it simpler and not focus on the background.
Well, I didn’t expect this project to receive so much attention since it focuses on character design and personal skill development. It’s just a set of personal illustrations, but I’m really happy that people like it.
